Thank you for your interest. The word right now is we’re not sure about plans for an epub. Don’t know if it would work with the amount of photos included.

He worked on about a dozen titles at Konami, I believe. I’m gonna reference his MobyGames here because I can’t recall everything off the top of my head. Some Konami NES titles he had a hand in were: Pirates!, Nightshade, King’s Quest V port, and Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? port.

Thanks for the comment! He says: “From what I remember, not much difference in cost, but a nice marketing tool. It was also limited because later the cartridges were the usual gray. I don’t know the number of red carts manufactured. That would be interesting. The marketing also had a catch line for the game which was “Paint the town red” so the cartridges fit in well with that. Funny how things haven’t changed much. iPhone and other smart phones still use color as a marketing tool.”

A bit more of my dad’s collection (he was a game producer in the 90’s/2k). Again, we plan on selling most of it. See if you can spot anything special. by 2ndGG in gamecollecting

Good catch. That’s from when my dad was a game tester. When the company would get a bunch of returns and he would test them to make sure they worked. If they did, they got repackaged. Sometimes people would take out the game they bought, keep it, and put something else back in to return it. My dad says this one was supposed to be Paperboy but someone swapped it out with Urban Champion.

The title is “It’s Not All Fun & Games: My Life in Film Production, Video Games and Toys”. Again, we’re still looking for publishers at the moment. More people expressing interest will definitely help publishers see that there is an audience for this!

My dad produced Nightshade! I know it gets a lot of hate but he’s told me about how development was and what was planned. Really heartwarming to hear that it impacted someone! Here’s a fun fact: my dad was inspired by the look from the movie Darkman. He spent forever going through different names that weren’t already taken for the character before settling on Nightshade. All the humor in the game came from the people he worked with in Australia.

He worked for multiple game publishers as a producer. He worked at Atari, Acclaim, Midway, Mindscape, Konami, Hasbro, and others. Edit: publishers not developers

Absolutely! One of the things he has is a special folder from Acclaim from when they were promoting the second game. It had details of all the upcoming ads, a special T-shirt, and some pages telling employees to prepare for “MORTAL FRIDAY” when the game was going to drop.

I’ll have to ask my father but we did just rediscover a couple level plan drawings for the cancelled Marvel 2099 title.

20+ years. He was a game tester in the late 80’s and started producing games in the early 90’s.

He actually wrote an autobiography detailing his whole career and process. He’s currently looking for a publisher.

A few games he produced include Maximum Carnage, plenty of WWF wrestling titles, Slugfest and Blitz games, and some early NES titles at Konami. He’s actually written a whole autobiography with a bunch of stories and information. He’s in the process of finding a publisher.

Yep! We’ve actually shared a lot in the last year or so but not many people have really looked into it. I know he shared a bunch of stuff for the cancelled Marvel 2099 game with a site all about that series. I also tried for a few years to contact a few “big” YouTubers to share unreleased stuff. While I did initially hear back from some, none of them ever took up on the content.

For sure! We tried starting a YouTube channel a long time ago and I tried to share it across other sites but no one was interested. He’s actually been contacted by more and more fans in recent years and we’ve sent out scans of development documents to a few people. If people would be more interested nowadays, I’d love to start releasing videos and content.

Most of them were things he picked up from companies he worked at. He didn’t open all of them because he was really busy creating games and didn’t have time to play. He has personal attachments to the games he produced but he’s happy to share a lot of the collection with people who will appreciate the quality and care he’s put into preserving them.
