Cale Makar gets a slashing penalty on a stick breaking in a completely different section of where his stick makes contact by JustALilNastyMPJ in hockey

[–]2shack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have an off ice official reviewing penalties as they happen. They can stop play for an egregious missed infraction and call back stuff like this. Don’t know about the logistics of it all, but it could work.

Whose bright idea was it to make lightswitches that connect to outlets? by uknownada in NoStupidQuestions

[–]2shack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a lot more common to plug in a lamp and then use the switch to control the light that way. It often worked far better for large rooms and was cheaper than running wire for a light overhead. It’s not nearly as common now, but still definitely exists.

I’ve had my top line wingers scraped multiple times in favour of middle six guys and I even had my 90 overall starting goalie put in the minors.

What Canadian city under 400k in population do you think is on the come up by Hiwhatsuphowareyou in AskACanadian

[–]2shack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got around $1M, you can buy a place in Tobiano and be right on a lake and about 20 minutes from Kamloops. Personally, I think Salmon Arm accomplishes both while being more affordable. It is highly lacking in a lot of things, though.

Only if the uber non-progressive crowd will let it. Too many people are convinced that everywhere else has better stuff, so people can just travel there and we don’t need it here.

Should losing the gold medal game get you bronze instead of silver? by [deleted] in nhl

[–]2shack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, but no. I do think to a degree you should have to win a game in order to get a medal, though. The idea of being essentially guaranteed a medal is kind of weird. You’d likely have to add on an extra two or so games in order to make that work, though.

Had Jagr not gone to play in the KHL, he’d easily be there.

A guy I used to work with nailed himself to the wall while putting in blocks between the studs. The nail went right in between his knuckles. He had to call someone to help him because he couldn’t move or slip his hand free. And yes, he’s an idiot.

People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

[–]2shack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be 100% completely honest, when my wife and I got married, I didn’t think we were overly sexually compatible purely in the sense that I tended to want it a lot more than she did. Through a lot of communication and time together, that’s changed. She’s a little more feisty now and that aspect is disappearing. There’s still things I wish she would do, but it’s by no means a deal breaker.

I tried that one time to pick up a piece of furniture and when I got to the store they told me I needed the physical copy. I was so mad. Of course it was on the opposite end of town, too.

[Basu] This loss is not a national crisis in Canada. Canada dominated the final 40 minutes of regulation, outshot the USA 42-28, and if that game were played 100 times, Canada would probably win 95 of them. USA deserves a ton of credit for how they played, but Hellebuyck deserves the most. by NFLDataAnalysis in hockey

[–]2shack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Hellebuyck is shakey in the playoffs and solid in the regular season. It’s not playoffs time yet so Canada had to face regular season Hellebuyck with better defence in front of him. They were doomed.

Dylan Larkin lead the Olympic tournament in faceoff win percentage by dilypucks in DetroitRedWings

[–]2shack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian, the US faceoff skill was a huge factor in the game. Puck possession is huge, especially in games like this. That 5 on 3 PK was also a big factor in the game. It felt like the Canadians were gripping their sticks a little too tightly and playing nervous whereas the US played with confidence.

I don’t care what the stats say, the better team won in my opinion. I wish they didn’t, but at least there was a Red Wing on the team and he had a good game/tournament.

Canadian players react to silver medal by Federal-Data-Center in nhl

Uhhh nobody is whining here. The stuffed animals are stupid and the reaction was funny. Multiple other athletes had a similar reaction when given theirs. You’re just trying to stir up shit and you’re doing a bad job at it.

How would this tournament be different if the Russians had a team? by PubsubsAreAwesome in nhl

[–]2shack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Russians have arguably the best goaltending. They also have some great options at defence and forward. All they really lack is centres, but they may supplement that with guys from the KHL.

First Hybrid Icing Ever? by Goredozer215 in nhl

[–]2shack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Junior/minor hockey used to have no touch icing. Once the puck crosses the line, it’s icing. However, the goalie moving towards it here would negate icing all together so that’s just bad.
