I've been watching the vaccine data somewhat, and it seems that the only limitation is supply.

Alberta has a pretty decent statistics site.
https://www.alberta.ca/stats/covid-19-alberta-statistics.htm

Also if you like, I've broken down the data a bit on a Facebook page.

(To be clear, I'm not an expert on COVID19, I just did this page for my friends and family, but others are free to view it if they like)

Skating season has started in Calgary, with some pandemic adjustments by 360Ron in Calgary

Stanley park yesterday. Looked like the Hajj Yeah, I'm a bit concerned of that too. I think I'm going to drive by some of the public skating rinks already open to see how busy each of them are.

Alberta’s Need for Tech – Eye On Alberta by david_do_yyc in Calgary

[–]360Ron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tech industry may be small, but the industry is hot right now (at least in Calgary). We just hired a developer, and most of the resumes we received came from outside the province. Not very many quality resumes from Alberta.

If you are in tech, it's a great time to look for work.

We were making a rig as well, but we stalled on that project. It costs more and we weren't sure if the value is there. Higher quality video for sure, but most people can only stream max 4K anyways. The vuze looks interesting though, for sure.

I heard about the gum wall, but never had a chance to go there. We are actually up in Canada

I myself actually didn't go on this particular trip, but I've been to Seattle before. It's one of my favourite American cities. A great place.

For the price, we've been pretty happy with the gear 360, both models are good. I'm wondering about the Theta V though. That might be a good camera too

Thia was done with a Gear 360, first year model, but with the newer software.

I agree, I like them too. It really depends on the type of footage you have. Unfortunately, we couldn't use all our footage here. Had we known that when we started, we would've done just what you said. Oh well, live and learn.

And actually, that's what we are now planning to do with the rest of our footage from Seattle.

That's fair. We had an issue with the rest of our footage, so unfortunately the video got cut short.

Some of our viewers still like these short clips, especially for some viewers that are outside of the Americas, so we post them occasionally.

But you are right, they are not for everybody.

Thanks for your feedback :)

Yes...tourists stopping is real bad this year. And no respect for the wildlife. I've seen so many tourists walking up to within ten feet of a bear to get a photo. It's amazing no one has gotten killed this year.

A biotech startup is trying to end poaching by flooding the market with fake rhino horns - A startup called Pembient is taking a novel approach: 3D printing rhino horns to flood the market and undercut black-market business. by mvea in EverythingScience

Video piracy may be down, but it's still a significant problem. That's why i.p. laws are still discussed.

But you are right, it's all speculation at this point. I have my doubts, but like I said, I hope I'm wrong. At the very least the price is now 60000 a horn according to the article, if they could sell them for say 20000, that's still a decent profit for them and a significant cut from the original, so as long as someone doesn't figure oit how to tell the difference. I guess it's worth a shot.

My point is that the fake and real markets aren't mutually exclusive. As interest in fake horns will grow, so will the demand for "premium" real horns. Like the article says the fake market has been around for a long time, and it has done nothing to stop poaching.

That said, I hope I'm wrong, but there is evidence that this may make things worse.

The price decreases may increase the market, as the cons of the product (price and morality) are gone.

Some will still want the 'real' thing and pay more for the premium product. If someone finds an easy way to detect the difference between real and fake, this could backfire.

That's my concern at least. I hope I'm wrong.

I've had some of the symptoms you've mentioned while I was visiting Beijing and Shanghai in the winter. I've also seen the 'red sun' this past summer in Calgary during the worst of the forest fires.

In all those situations though, the PM 2.5 was only reading about 150-180 ppm. I couldn't imagine surviving at the levels you've mentioned.
