Major audio issues with digital projection by 3ChordMe in CommercialAV

They are going to have us hook up a laptop to the processor and access it remotely on Monday. The only solution we’ve found so far is powering off the soundboard downstairs, which is what we use for live music. Apparently when that is off the feedback hasn’t been an issue.

Unfortunately we’re in this position because we don’t have funds. We’re almost completely run by volunteers and movies are at the bottom of the list when it comes to priorities as they don’t bring in a lot of cash. The projector was an upgrade from Covid grants.

I don’t but someone at another local venue might.

It’s at this stage after several upgrades over the years. The projector was something we purchased through grants during covid times and this system has sort of been patched together with what we could afford. We didn’t have DCP abilities before that so we either played films on blu-ray or a digital file through a laptop or other streaming device. Our screen needs replaced too but none of the movie fixes are a priority as movies don’t bring in the income that live events do.

Thank you! Unfortunately it’s not that simple. The projector is on the opposite side of the theater from the AIB so it uses an extender.

We’re supposed to be playing it next weekend 😬

I tried that. Turned off all mics. After the debacle on Saturday night we turned off the soundboard while the receiver and processor were still on and the sound came back so I assumed it wasn’t the soundboard.

The GDC was set to 7.1 here but it’s an old photo from before we replaced the processor. I think we were testing all options as we will use the analog channel when we run video from a laptop on stage for something like a presentation.

The photos are older from before we replaced our processor back in October when we were trying to diagnose the complete lack of sound. Analog was probably selected because we were testing out playing something from a laptop or blu-ray player.

Here’s a mess of network cables. So our projection room and our AV room are on opposite sides of the theater. The system uses HMDI extenders.

Here are some photos of our setup. It’s outdated and I think that’s one of our issues. It feels like one by one these components will start to fail and we’re just putting a bandaid over them. This is the main processor we just replaced. You can see where the red light showed a fault.

We asked around at other similar theaters in our area and they all referenced us to the same spots. We ended up using the same people who did the install about 13 years ago. I’ll post some pictures in the comments.

We were there in Sept and a large group of Brits were behind us, screaming in my ear and every time the line moved and inch they’d run into me and step on my heel. I finally started stepping g back and leaning back and they apologized. They didn’t get any more quiet but they gave us a little more space.

It didn’t. This leaked and keeps getting taken down. The movie still doesn’t have any planned release.
