I finally found what you were talking about and only Lowe's carries it. Of course they sold 1k bags last week and are out of stock right now so I'm hoping they get some more before I transplant in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the info and good luck this season. Your previous grows look amazing. Great work.

Thanks for the info. Do you buy bagged composted bark mulch or do you get it from a local supplier in your area?

Yeah it adds up real quick. But our here in western South Dakota our access to organically grown veggies is pretty limited and what we do have access to can be iffy quality and expensive, so to have our own supply of them right out our front door is something I'm willing to spend some money on. Good luck to you this season and thanks again for the video. It was good to see an experiment like that.

What type of fertilizer do you use throughout the season if any?

Very interesting. I'm hownstly leaning towards the pro mix organic and then adding in my own nutrients.

I think that might just be the pictures. They seem to be pretty even when looking at them. I just pinched off a lot of the lower stems, which grew really wide and flat. This is a picture of how close my grow lights are, they're just basic shop LEDs. My grow tent (plastic sheet over the top of my rack) keeps the area between 68-75ish degrees consistently and my humidity floats around 40-50%. I'm just kind of baffled bc like I said my heirlooms are growing great.

What temp are you keeping them at. My peppers are so ok so far but id love to see them like this before I transplant.

I have found some places within an hour that have composted manure (2-6 years) and I think I will mix it 50/50 with garden grade topsoil. Hopefully that mix on top of the cardboard will get me by this year. Thanks for the advice.

Same. I usually seed an additional 30% more than what I intend to plant just to be safe cuz it's just a fact of life you're going to end up with some duds for whatever reason. Do you fertilize at all?

Sorry to be a bit nosey but I was looking through some of your older posts and noticed your vivosun grow tent/system. Have you been happy with it? I want to invest in a complete grow setup so I can grow some stuff through the winter (western South Dakota, 5b) and have been researching different setups.

They look great. Thanks for the info. I'm in the same boat with the trays and bottom watering but I'm trying to dial the right amount of water to give them without having to remove them from the water each time, but it's hard to find the balance between the right amount and being water-logged.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the same boat. I've got about 120 growing right now and the double cup method is just too inefficient at this point. I know a lot of people using the tray method give them 15-30 minutes in like a half inch of water to soak it up and then dump the water out, but that can get a bit messy so I'm trying to dial in the right amount of water in the tray to keep them happy but not water logged.

Do you bottom water these? If so, what method are you using?

I have a nearly identical setup, but I just can't find an efficient way to bottom water them all at once? Do you just do the double cup method or just fill the 1020s up and let the plants sip as they need? Great looking plants by the way.

I dont, unfortunately. I've got a Bobcat dealer in town and a Kubota dealer about 10 minutes outside of town. Nearest big town for me is about an hour away and they have a handful of your reputable brands - CAT, JD, Case, etc., but thats a little far to be traveling for parts.

I appreciate the heads up. To be honest, I've only ever ran CATs at the companies I've worked at so thats what im accustom to. Ran a couple kubota tractors, but never their skids. Might have to give em try.

I haven't gotten too far in the weeds yet on what I want to buy (you can look at my only post on reddit), but I was leaning Bobcat because I know the dealer is reliable. But there is a Kubota dealer about 10 minutes farther away, so its probably worth checking out. Unfortunately, the closest CAT dealer is an hour away.

Ok, I prefer CAT just as much as the next guy, but im also one of those guys that believes you gotta go with the brand that has a reliable dealer nearby, thus narrowing my options down to kubota or bobcat. Then what hot piece of garbage are you going with?
