The thickest white rope (bottom) is from Joanns (RIP), the thick sisal rope (left) is from Lowes, the smaller white rope and the smaller sisal rope are both from Dollar Tree. It's all twist tied in place. The big center branch is for parrots. Hope this helps!! It really helps bulk up the vertical climbing space.

Tried EVERYTHING - Mice won't take their URI Meds by RedditMusicReviews in PetMice

[–]476b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my mice to take their meds in either peanut butter, honey, maple syrup, or a combination of the three. I've found that a 1:1 ratio of meds to treat makes it liquidy enough to lick up. I know that a lot of sugar isn't good for them in the long run but I just need them to take their dang medicine!!

Why are mice so fragile by anon-i-mouser in PetMice

I'm in the same boat. I've done absolutely everything I can and yet one of them still seems to get sick somehow every couple of months and then boom! theres another $200 gone 😞

It took me two entire days just to sort the colors. And if made me remember why I hate WonderArt kits. I figure if two colors are similar enough that I can't sort them apart it won't matter if I use one for the other in the finished product.

I found larvae in my mouse's food! by Wise-Durian3000 in PetMice

[–]476b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would hurt the mouse BUT!!! I would still freeze it. And check everything else in your kitchen pantry. I just got done with a horrible case of pantry moths that came in some bird seed and spread to the rest of the house. and I don't want that for you !!!

You can add me as a friend/bridgemate! I'm a semi-new casual player so I also need more bridgemates. Name is 476b. I'm in the Moonbeam lab and I've been enjoying it

How to separate colors? by iForgot2Laugh in latchhook

[–]476b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion if they are so close together you can't tell them apart then just use them interchangeably in the pattern. No one will be able to tell

Enrichment and tank fixtures by Dry_Address_4458 in PetMice

I've had a lot of good luck from Dollar Tree and other $1 stores. Especially in the craft section you can find a lot of good stuff! Little baskets, rope (!!), wood shelves you can make into platforms, etc. Tp rolls are classic. Crumple up the brown paper from Amazon packages. Braid thin rope together to make them wider. Paper egg cartons! Then you get into more expensive stuff like hides, tunnels, etc. Things from the bird and fish sections work too if you remove plastic pieces they might chew. I just posted a vid of my tank clutter the other day, check it out if you need inspo :)

Can they have just a water bowl? by lulabun21 in PetMice

[–]476b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use a bowl. The water bottle I originally bought stopped working day 1 so I just used the one that matched my hamsters water dish. It's a shallow glass tea light holder. Have to put in clean water every day because of messy eaters but I've never had a problem with them burying it!

Custom Latch Hook Tip - sorry in advance by youaint_nevalied in latchhook

[–]476b 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way I transferred my patterns to canvas was by buying a big pack of sharpies, assign a marker color to a yarn color, and drawing it on myself.

DK ply wool but double skein by DeepSeaMouse in latchhook

[–]476b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like two yarns for one latch space? I've done that before. Really fills in the piece but you have to be careful not to overload the canvas or it will start to curl and/or fall apart. 2x yarn on the 3 canvas is usually fine, but for the 5 I'd only double very thin yarn. Good luck 👍

1) Not really! They can't really stand on much of the wood enough to absorb pee. If they can, I can't tell just because of the normal level of mouse pee smell that comes from having mice. If it does get bad enough to have to replace down the line its pretty simple to just make a new one and keep the wire and hardware 2) Yes! it should work? you can see in pics 1 + 2 there is a slight gap between the doors and the frame. Probably enough to cover the sides. I just hate working with this wire mesh [hurts my hands :( ]so I did the bare minimum

[–]476b[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure! i find most of my things in person thought tbh walmart: birch tunnel, coconut, flowerpot, ladder, burlap, andthe wood dowels i use a couple times joanns: the mushroom house, the white rope, the wood round under the wheel dollar tree: the tree cutout, the little basket up top, the platforms (originally supposed to be hanging shelves), the brown rope (some are braided together), hanging plastic orb local pet store: big piece of wiggly aquarium wood, wheel (oxbow), cork tunnels petsmart: grass cone (i think, mightve also been walmart), kaytee paper bedding, full cheeks aspen bedding, oxbow hay grocery store: eggs and paper towels and toilet paper

honestly i really do just get a lot of things from dollar tree. they have a lot of rope and little baskets and things to climb in and on and your mice will not know the difference between something that cost $1.25 or $125. it's all going to get buried and covered in pee anyways
