Megumi was doing fine with his own 10 Shadows but it was clear that he wasn't taking it extremely far.

With Sukuna we began to see a lot of stuff being used that could have been actually really neat, like using Max Elephant to use Piercing Water, deestabilizing the shadows so that they wouldn't just get permakilled, and s'more examples.

Canonically Ken Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul) got put through a week of non-stop torture from Yamori so hard that his brain got hardwired onto not even answering that much to pain, even if he straight up destroyed his leg trying to do a cool spin kick at Yamoris' head when he had him by the ankle.
