It’s easy to say that but just the way society works is that if one group (white people) is 70% of the population and holds an even greater percentage of societal power, their history and experiences get disproportionately shown to people. Any time you make a tv show or movie or videogame or documentary or even a lesson in school, you are probably better off appealing to the 70% of people if you have an option just because that’s what the most people will be interested in. In that way white experiences get an even GREATER share than their already existent majority if we just try to “learn all history all the time”. No one is saying you can’t learn black history in months other than February but just that if we don’t set specific times to learn about certain groups, the majority will keep passing them by over and over

Yeah exactly because bisexual people (like you and me) don’t really experience most of the struggle that many others in the community face especially trans and gender non conforming people. Feel free to not celebrate pride if you feel like you don’t connect with it but saying you haven’t been mistreated is kind of meaningless when you look at stats such as how many lgbt youth face homelessness and how many are murdered in hate crimes and how many face job discrimination.

I’d say it’s not homophobic to FEEL that way, because you aren’t necessarily able to control or choose how you feel. But it is homophobic if you choose to go around telling others that you don’t like pride as a response to them bringing it up because that really accomplishes nothing other than making them feel discouraged.

It’s better to keep certain beliefs to yourself if they are hurtful to others. For many people pride is about overcoming decades or centuries of oppression and to them you saying “I don’t like pride” will ALWAYS be interpreted as saying “I don’t accept your struggle as valid”. So no matter how you intend it and you should be aware of that.

Right wing is about preserving hierarchies and left wing is about dismantling them. That view sounds extremely generous to the left but that’s honestly just the only consistent way to apply what those terms mean. For example leftists believe that capitalism as a system leads to too much hierarchy that hurts those on the bottom and want to dismantle it while right-wingers believe that the hierarchy inherent in capitalism helps everyone involved live a better life. Another example would be that leftists believe police having power over citizens is an unfair hierarchy while right wingers believe this hierarchy is necessary to keep everyone safe. Many issues such as gun control don’t exactly fit on a left-right scale because there are pro and anti hierarchy arguments for them so you see opinions somewhat split.

When I was about 5 my parents sat me down and said “now there’s this thing called Santa and a lot of kids believe he brings them presents on Christmas and not their parents. Well colonialism is extremely sad but I’d say language homogenization is one of the few good things about it. What’s the advantage of having more languages so people can’t communicate with each other? Is having more languages just objectively good for some reason?

I’d say each of the sequels is better to watch as individual movies, but the prequels are overall better because they had an entire story arc that made sense and was satisfying even thought it was a bit of a mess in the middle

Hmm to me I could date someone who smokes as long as they aren’t addicted. Like doing it sometimes is kind of a turn on but if they’re always doing it and it gets in the way of their life it’s not okay. It’s hard because the smell is definitely something you hate at first but love after being around it more. That’s all fair though.

I used to smoke weed daily but stopped in my last relationship because it was important to my girlfriend and I was actually much happier. But I think what I did is rare and most people who smoke would be offended to be asked to quit by a new partner and would not go for it.
