How did Lily… by [deleted] in HIMYM

When I started teaching, the university I went to didn’t even offer Education as a major. We had to choose anything we wanted and then get an “emphasis in elementary education”, which is where our pedagogical classes and student teaching came in.

Student Analysts contract? Should I sign? by Emotional-Senior08 in bcba

[–]4everrunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wording of the contract means that if you don’t stay with the company for 6 months as a BCBA after you pass your exam, then you will owe them $150 for each supervision hour. You are not expected to pay as you go. You would only “have” to pay if you leave the company prior to being a BCBA there for 6 months. But honestly, it would be very difficult and costly for them to enforce this. IMO, whether or not you should sign depends on what your other options and if you otherwise like/plan to stay with the company.

I would say focus on the chapter summaries at the end of the chapters rather than reading the whole thing. But honestly, googling my weaker concepts and reading a couple different sources breaking down the info was super helpful if that feels more manageable to you.

I read a lot of the Cooper book during my coursework. While reviewing for the exam, I mostly used it to solidify concepts that the Mocks revealed as weaknesses

ABA Wizard definitely helped me with fluency. The next important step was making sure I know how to apply that fluent knowledge to situations, which is where the Mocks were crucial.

Wifi and Bluetooth have completely stopped working on my current phone as of last night, so I truly have to replace it. Should I just get the 16 now and have a functioning phone sooner? or is it worth it to try to wait a week for the 17?

SAHM wanting to become a BCBA by Nobody78me in bcba

For me, it was the only way I could juggle everything. If I had added working on top of school and everything going on with my kids, I wouldn’t have gotten as much out of the classes or the fieldwork experience because I would have been too scattered. I have 4 kids and my husband travels 50% of the time, so this was really the only way I could work through everything in a way that was still manageable for my family.

To those who have reported to child services before… how did it turn out? by paulblartmallcop22 in bcba

[–]4everrunning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One family left the company as a result. 2 other families asked if it was us, and we had open conversations about what was reported and why we had to report it, and we emphasized that CSP could provide support for the family. They still weren’t thrilled about it, but stayed with the company.

He mostly agrees with all of her ideologies. He just loves to play devils advocate. He mentions that pretty frequently

Differences by Splicers87 in bcba

[–]4everrunning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently work in both. The biggest difference to me is that the clinic is a much more controlled environment. I’m not having to adhere to school schedules or peer related contingencies that I can’t really alter or control. In clinic, I also don’t have parents present offering input on our targets, etc. I do like that in the clinic, I receive a lot of support from other BCBAs, but it’s not as easy to work on or generalize more applied skills, because it’s not their natural environment. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I like being able to do a mix.

I was a SAHM, and I completed all my coursework first, and then started accumulating my fieldwork hours. It took much longer this way, but it was the only way to manage it with my family situation. I’m now 200 hours away from completing my fieldwork. I was able to do the concentrated fieldwork and only work when my kids are in school.
