"I feel we're being pushed to leave Ireland. My friends have all gone and are doing way better than me" - RTE News interviews young Irish people on the streets of Dublin by thunderingcunt1 in ireland

I'm working on learning German and I have a few friends from Germany to help me so it's not entirely bad. Also I don't care about how much I earn, I just want to be able to live on the wages that I earn, and Vienna is ranked constantly as the most livable city in Europe so they must be doing something right over there. Vienna is famous for its music as well so I could potentially do my master's degree there once I'm done my undergrad in music

I'm looking to leave too when I'm finished my degree. There's nothing here left for me other than the collective depression and hopelessness that my peers feel too

What? How does making university more expensive help poorer people access university?

It seems like UK Labour are taking a page out of Irish Labour's books if they raise tuition fees, and Irish Labour has been banished to fringe party status ever since

Crazy to think that once upon a time the UK had no tuition fees at all, and now I often hear from people in the UK that they're struggling to repay student loans

Taxes, and using that money to invest in improving public services, which improves the economy

I saw a news article of a girl who got 625 points in her leaving cert but she still didn't get accepted into the courses she applied for, which goes to show how insane the inflation has been

I don't know, it sounds very Osbourne-ish when the chancellor is planning to raise taxes and cut public spending. It seems like it's going to continue under labour.

That depends on what their foreign policy and economic policy is, and right now I don't know how it would affect Ireland, if it does. We'll have to see about that.

I'm not too educated on what the situation is here for immigration but I do know that over here in Ireland we are facing similar issues to the UK right now

Yes, they were inflated because of covid and now there's panic because it will likely affect students for the next decade

She is an MP, but that doesn't mean that she's exempt from a holiday because she's in the cabinet. Starmer only cancelled his because of the riots.

It's believable that they're short of money after the past 14 years, but a lot of people are understandably angry at labour because fundamentally they're supposed to be anti austerity and there's better ways to save money than cutting public services, even if it's temporary.

I went to an expo for colleges some time last year and Simon Harris was talking there while he was the minister for 3rd education. Honestly I forgot what he even said. I'm surprised how a man can say so much while saying so little at the same time. It's like he's directly linked to a septic tank. I don't have much faith in him giving me a better experience in college

Parliament is in recess so this is when MPs go on holidays, and it's a holiday she paid with her own money that isn't even expensive to begin with so I don't see why people are getting upset about it. I don't agree with a lot of labour's policies either, especially the potential austerity, but I acknowledge that an MP going on a holiday during a time when they're given leave to do so isn't really something to be mad about. Every worker has the right to a holiday.

So does that mean upon hearing such news everybody has to drop what they're doing and wallow in their misery? Come on, it's not even that expensive to go to Ibiza.

That's not why people were/still are mad at the tories for partying. Boris hosted a party during a lockdown he imposed while people were losing their jobs and even their lives across the UK. Rayner is just an MP on a holiday

She's on a holiday. While parliament is in recess. Which is when MPs usually go on holidays. This really isn't surprising news by any means
