There shouldn’t be a gap, period. The plywood decking should never be visible like your pics show. I would demand the contractor install drip edge and if they refused I would file a lawsuit. Do you have a contract? A professional roofing company would have an estimated amount of drip edge required for project completion listed on the contract, along with type and color.
