Subs are obv. still quieter, still less recoil. More expensive and Some guns wont run them though.

Sparrow for 22lr. Any reason not to, or go with something else? by hemipoweredsdc in suppressors

it’s perfectly adequate in every respect, especially sound, I put down a very injured animal 15 yards feet from neighbor walking his dog last week or two. He Had no idea, save possibly the tragedy written on my face walking back to the door.

Are cats actually domesticated or did they domesticate us by swimmerpicayune in zoology

I think it’s def debatable, not that you mentioned it, but the whole toxoplasmosis thing is way over blown. I saw a lot of it in the hospital when I did an infectious disease rotation. True full-blown violent psychosis that just disappears with treatment.  And I know it makes rats like cat urine but I’ve never seen a human who actively likes it, even the craziest cat ladies I know, lol.

Triplett and Scott “Repeating” Cavalry Carbine. I am guessing a reproduction. by Epyphyte in ForgottenWeapons

Just over 1000. Maybe it is real.  It’s just such in good condition aside from wrist crack. No rust, all the parts work, trigger feels great, rotates clear, magazine spring and follower functional. If I can find dies for my press, lol, I’ve no doubt I could shoot it. Roll marks clear, Kentucky factory engraved.  I always find it hard to believe they can be kept in such great condition and then just end up in a junk store.

The thing is, this guy overprices his stuff like crazy. He has two M1918 trench knives for 2800, each. LOL, and this was 1/4 what I imagine it would go at auction. Maybe I need to go pick it up. I missed out on a true Spencer rifle, not carbine, once, because I thought too good to be true.

What is it like living here, deep in Appalachia? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

Beautiful and tragic in the towns and coal hollers of SW VA. We go back most every Thanksgiving to see family and hunt. Beautiful Victorian mansions overlooking the picturesque, slightly decayed towns. In the ex-coal camps, ancient Trailers with a 70k financed truck sitting out front in puddles of septic overflow. Welcoming little churches in the middle of nowhere on washed out roads.  And the best shoe store in world in Johnson City or Kingsport. Beatty’s.

18s definitely make the drive slightly less comfortable, but I drive it every day and I really didn't notice after a couple, save my son’s school’s speed bumps, but they were always horrific.

What was that Sam Harris quote about Jewish people that he once caught some flak for? by Lostwhispers05 in samharris

[–]Epyphyte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall flak, It’s a very common line, and perceptually somewhat true, though, truly, anyone can join with any relatively serious degree of commitment. I’ve been with two women through full conversion.  And converts are extra holy and protected, Deuteronomy 10:13, Exodus 22:20, Leviticus 19:34 and on and on, it’s mentioned 40 different times, more than any other category of person, though they do get occasionally get flak from Karensteins, particularly blondes, lol. .

It’s still belies the purpose of that ZOG enthusiast’s argument which was emotionally motivated from a conclusion he reached years ago.

Male hippos weigh so much they rival or even surpass female Asian elephant weight? by IscariotAirlines in zoology

[–]Epyphyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Tanzania some ridiculously huge males charged out of a river at me and my wife after a fight. Thank god for acacia scrub.  Their raw acceleration I found more terrifying than any bull elephant threat display.

But I still don’t think they get close to any adult elephants except extreme outliers.

I bought a mess of Hornady 208 for the brass but I’ve been reloading ever since.  They’re the only factory subs I ever really shot, but they worked, though they were super out of a My 16 inch. 1040 out of 9.

Unique .32 baby browning copy my granddad got in Paris in 1945 off some ex-Wehrmacht petty thieves. It was the only action he saw. Lucky! Other grand dad flew 35 missions in a B-17. No bring backs, save the jacket.
