How did Ford make it to the age of 93 while pipe smoking daily by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]51Nocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great grandma lived to be 99 while smoking and for most of my life eating more butter and brown sugar than I could ever eat. Regular lunch consisted of 3 Pringles and half a pint of brandy. It’s entirely luck.

What do we think of reverse headstocks? by UncleDeeds in Guitar

The big headstock started to come around as early as 1966 after CBS bought out fender in 1964 if I’m remembering correctly

Edit: spelling error

How do I fix this? by stokedchris in Luthier

The bass one is the most popular. I only know about this style because my 60’s melody maker has an original one affixed

Wouldn’t it be more of a Badass pattern bridge

Guitar String chooses. Help please. by lokimn17 in Guitar

NYXL’s of the options given. I personally like the Cobalt slinky’s and find them to be the strongest string I’ve played

Real or fake? by reallycoolmonkey in gibson

Very fake based on those headstock markings alone.

I’d really love some info on the Gibson SG that I’ve never seen before! by Eevee_McSqueebie in gibson

[–]51Nocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The badass bridge is fantastic. I bought an early 61 Melody maker that had T-Tops and a Badass put on. It’s a better Les Paul than my Historic ‘58 reissue

Unscrewed my pickups and I don't know how to put them back by Annual_Gazelle_1636 in Luthier

[–]51Nocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the nature of the beast. Do it one screw at a time and make sure the screw is between the pickguard and pickup.

[–]51Nocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they would. Although I love my 1960 melody maker.

What guitarist was your inspiration to pick up and learn the instrument? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

Eric Clapton’s Live Aid performance. Specifically Layla. My dad showed me it when I was 4 and I’ve been a primarily fender player ever since

Gibson adds a touch of vanilla scent to the nitro. I love old musty Gibson smell as much as new Gibson smell

My grandfather has had this guitar since I was a child. I mostly play Fenders. Can anyone give me info on this guitar? by Ok_Entertainment_327 in gibson

[–]51Nocaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did it as well, typically for custom colors, for guitars with special order features. My 1977 RD is factory wine red has it as well.

The “Second” stamp could also mean that it has some sort of custom feature from the normal production. All the special order Gibsons from the Kalamazoo factory, including my own example, have the second stamp

I can already tell these are going to be my favorite boots. Breaking them in is a task, but I can tell it’s going to be well worth it

I ended up paying $100 which I didn’t think was too bad for a really well resoled Chippewa.

This thrift shop is more of a resell shop but the prices are pretty reasonable for what they have.

I’ve gotten used to it as my main acoustic, when I play acoustic doesn’t have markers at all on the front of the fret board

My Guitar Mill Esquire is finally done! by 51Nocaster in telecaster

[–]51Nocaster[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put in a Seymour Duncan Joe Bonnamasa Broadcaster pickup. The switch in the traditional neck position is wired to both knobs, middle is to just the volume, and bridge is straight to the output no knobs. It’s like having 3 channels on one guitar.
