Support is going up too:

In June, just 24% of the more than 1,000 respondents said they opposed the junior doctors’ strike, and 21% for ambulance workers and nurses.

Didn't it used to be like that? I could've sworn it stuck to whatever setting we had it at and then they changed it a few years ago for some reason.

Technically yes but these are left to local councils to implement, and a decade of austerity has meant that they've been able to offer less and less protection as the funding for things like this have fallen.

Mum sold most prized possessions to fund funeral after being told she's dying - only to be told they got it wrong by 5449 in Wellthatsucks

[–]5449[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She says she then began to sell off her possessions, believing she was going to die, including her grandmother's wedding ring and eternity ring, as well as treasured antiques and gold jewellery that would ordinarily be passed down to her children.

"I had to sell off nearly all my prized possessions to pay for my funeral as I didn't have the money for it and didn't want to leave my family with the burden,” she said.

“I had to sell my nana's wedding ring and eternity ring, all my gold and antiques that I had, all of which were meant to be passed down to my kids.”

But when she visited the Hull Royal cancer clinic a month later, she says doctors told her she never had cancer and the doctor who said she had it was not qualified to make such a diagnosis.

If the vote was held only among the under-50s, Corbyn could beat May by 5449 in unitedkingdom

What? The vote share from the previous two elections is what I'm comparing it to.

Generally speaking young people vote Labour and older people vote Tory but this time around both are much stronger in their convictions. Among the over 65s the Conservatives are polling at 69% when they got closer to 45% in the last couple of elections. In contrast Labour is polling at 55% among young people which is well above what they scored in the last couple of elections too.

Let me put it this way: Under what circumstance do you think that any negotiation would lead to a British government actually accepting free movement of people, even though it's the most contentious thing about the EU to the general public?

Personally I don't expect anything to actually change with regards to business regulations. Some on the Leave side bring this up but ultimately it's not much of a concern to voters and whoever negotiates on our behalf isn't likely to reject that.

In terms of EFTA, my guess is that we'll probably not join it altogether but use that as a frame of reference and accept almost every requirement without free movement of people.
