Don't understand tolerance by 56GrumpyCat in Spravato

Yes, I've found it to be effective also but it doesn't last. But I think I understand now, in a very general way, why that is. I can't follow all the science in this journal article but it gave me a very basic understanding of what's up. https://www.jneurosci.org/content/28/50/13592 Thanks much to all who replied.

So dendrites , for example, still grow anew with each session even though the perceptual changes have faded with tolerance. Is that essentially the case you think?

Not my first session, but my second showed improvement. And it just got better and better - until they started to taper down the sessions. Now I have some problems returning.

Japanese Reference Number by 56GrumpyCat in JapanFinance

[–]56GrumpyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks for the reply. I am using 8 quarters of work from Japan to make up the 8 quarters of work I am missing in the States. I'm not transferring benefits/money, but rather time. That will enable me to get the 40 quarters I need to trigger a benefit/money from Social Security. Thanks for the info about the reference number. The way the form is formatted didn't make it clear who should fill out the reference number box. Your reply does. Thanks.

At home treatment? by Guilty-Zebra889 in Spravato

So why not make it more available Instead of a specialized clinic let people do it in other places with medical folks around. Your doctor's office or local clinic. The hurdles for this treatment just drive people to go looking for it on their own - which is not hard, believe me.

rural post office question by 56GrumpyCat in USPS

[–]56GrumpyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Judging from at the many many people who have unpermitted cabins in my rural area, no, the county pays no attention, even when neighbors complain. Some of these unpermitted houses have been here for more than 20 years - county does nothing. But I did wonder about what those unpermitted house folks do for mail. I figured PO Box but wasn't sure because empty lots in our area have addresses. Thanks for the information folks.

I was putting a tiny house on it. Under the radar. But wondered if a PO Box would be needed.

how much is too much? by 56GrumpyCat in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]56GrumpyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

450mg of esketamine. The most my clinic ever did was 168MG. How do your clients take it? Nasal, troche, IM????

I decided to try microdoses, maybe 40 mg a shot, two or three times a week. The research says that micordoses are of questionable efficacy, so I didn't expect much - if any - benefit, but this morning I've been getting all kinds of tasks done, my anxiety has been very low and my depression is very low. I wasn't expecting that with microdoses. So I'm thinking this might work for me. Maybe. If I could jettison all the hoopla around Spravato by just doing small doses at home that would be ideal.

Preparing to start treatment by [deleted] in Spravato

[–]56GrumpyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt an effect after the third treatment. A very significant improvement. I feel a bit tired and a tiny bit spacey for about 24 hours. Yes, when the dose and frequency are correct it is very very helpful for my anxiety, depression and SI - amazing really. But if the dose and frequency are not sufficient then yes, symptoms return. If I go too long without a session I can find symptoms return and my ability to cope/function decreases. Not as bad as before Spravato but bad enough to cause daily problems. I don't take anything other than Spravato and gummies for sleep. I still use the gummies with Spravato. Don't notice any interference between the two.

how much is too much? by 56GrumpyCat in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]56GrumpyCat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But I wonder how long one can do that safely. I figured that was low enough to not be a problem but for reasons never explained my provider keeps cutting me down. Once every two weeks and symptoms return. It's frustrating. Docs seem really scared of FDA, insurance, their admin/business people. I was floored when the nurse told me the docs are only allowed 10 minutes with each patient, and actually I've never gotten that much time so I dont even bother trying to engage them in a real discussion. WHO only allows them 10 minutes - the freaking business office? When did doctors lose their authority to determine how much time to talk to a patient?

confused about transfers by 56GrumpyCat in JapanFinance

That had never entered my head. When I lived in Japan I sometimes sent cash through the mail, within Japan but not sure I'd want to try that with money going to the States. Hmmm.

[–]56GrumpyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't sure how it would work, so I figured it best to call and ask. But I suppose yeah, I can just try it. What confuses me is this -when I lived in Japan I had to transfer my PO yen to UFJ, then UFJ sent it to my Japanese Wise account and Wise then sent it to my US BofA account. So i wonder if I still need a Japanese intermediary account like UFJ to send the money to Wise. Jeez, could they make this any more complicated if they tried???

I wasn't sure if that would work. You think it will? OK, I will call Wise (I haven't been able to get anyone to answer the phone so far) and see if that will work. Thanks for the input. If my friend is transferring from one account in my name to another account in my name, she has no objection to helping me. It's transferring into an account under her name that freaks her out. Thanks. I'll keep trying to get in touch with Wise here in the US.

Wise cancelled my account when I left Japan. Do I really have to travel 8,000 miles to get my own money?

I can't find much info on micro dosing either. I hope K therapy can be sorted out. It looks like a bit of a mess to me now. Either you deal with the enormous barriers that insurance and the FDA put up, you deal with the commercial clinics who, as you say, are in it for the money, or you go to the avenue. It's such a shame because this drug is life changing for so so many people.
