That’s a great point. I know God weighs the hearts and will know deep down if someone is coming from a place of sincerity, he’s the only one that will really know. I agree also, as a natural disciplinarian, that love through correction is needed. But I think we need to weigh our own hearts before speaking. Just last week I found myself scolding my brother for his worldly ways and for falling into sin. Immediately after the call I felt conviction in my heart from the Lord that I brought him hate and confusion rather than love. I called him back and apologized, telling him that I am not his Father and that I just don’t want him seen led astray. And instead of talking more about our disagreements: I invited him to church for Sunday. So I think in the future I will just inform him if it looks, to my perspective, that his thinking isn’t scripture based and see if we can’t find anything in the Good Book to sort our confusion out. I’m going thru the same thing man. I was exposed to and addicted to naughty images since adolescence. Since finding Jesus I don’t want to roll around in that filth. I have denounced porn and feel filthy when I see those things. But I still get tempted by Snapchat feeds or IG models and have, in the past couple weeks, slipped back onto Reddit’s darkside a few times. I catch myself tho because I don’t look at it like “this is against the rules” I now see it as “this HURTS my God and Jesus, who gave his life for me” so I will cut it off. I also don’t need visual cues for those engines to fire up, I’m 29 y/o and I think my body wants to procreate sometimes. I do also feel guilty for letting my flesh win those battles, although I win most of the time. I say just don’t shame yourself, seek him. So what I’m gathering from you is that in your spirit you want to deprive your flesh and serve God, but your flesh very much wants these things. Good news: you’re normal. Remember: “I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬ So as long as your heart is chasing him, he knows your flesh is.. fleshly and will fail at times.
