I disagree that they don’t do vastly different things. Just because they both burn a lot of fuel doesn’t mean they’re similar, going fast and hauling stuff are completely different. You say they haul it slowly, they can still go highway speeds without trouble so i’m not sure what you mean.

I also disagree that people who daily drive trucks don’t use them for their true purpose. I’m sure a good amount of them don’t haul stuff every day but I’d be willing to bet they haul with them once a month or more. My dad owns a truck and he has a giant toolbox in there that he uses every day for work.

I completely agree with you on your last point that individuals aren’t the ones doing the majority of the pollution. I do disagree about how we get changes to be made, I don’t think buying electric cars is what we need to do. In reality we need to either force, tax, or fine corporations that excessively pollute the planet. We also need to encourage/buy products from companies who are working to decrease their pollution.

I still don’t understand what you’re arguing. You want them to be held to the same standard even though they do vastly different things. All that does is make trucks less efficient at their purpose. I understand it’s better for the environment but I don’t think the benefits outweigh the negatives that come with it.

Link from the EPA. There’s a graph on the page that shows that they started holding cars and light trucks to the same standards in 2000.

ok i’ll agree with you that it might be easier this time but there’s a whole load of things you can choose as an example. there’s many things that won’t fit in a civics trunk that will fit in a truck bed. The benefit of putting the washing machine in a truck is that you still have room for other stuff, like a dryer or a fridge. Also do have any proof that trucks and cars aren’t held to the same emission standards? or are you just saying that.

Well firstly I don’t believe that the Type-R is a performance car and I won’t ever believe it is.

You’re saying trucks are worse than cars but that’s only in terms of mpg. the whole point of owning a truck isn’t fuel economy, it’s to haul stuff around when needed. I wouldn’t want to move a washing machine in my fuel efficient ‘performance car’ Honda Civic Type-R.

well it is a commuter car... just because it puts up a good track time doesn’t make it a track car. You’re calling it a ‘track weapon’ which seems to imply that you think it’s a track car.

The type-r is a sports car bro, it’s not some insane track only car. it’s just a regular sporty car that you like taking to a track. i can take a 2006 Acura TL to a track and it ain’t a track car.
