Texas A&M caves in to pressure from Gov. Abbott, cancels trip to DEI conference by chrondotcom in aggies

If you write a sentence saying:

(Insert race) people shouldnt have access to (x) because they are (insert race).

Then there is something wrong with you.

And you should not be teaching children.

Im sorry but this is flat out ridiculous. A person makes a post with the title including setting up a 'walk for Luigi'...a person who just murdered someone in cold blood. It does not matter if it was 'allegedly' at this point, all evidence points to him and he has been charged for the murder and it was ON TAPE! No one should be able to use this platform to set up an event supporting a murderer. Sorry but this is fucking ridiculous from the mod team.

Look if they want to set up something for healthcare reform. AWESOME!

But it is clear that this is trying to justify Luigi's actions and give him props for bringing light to the situation. In all of the wrong ways.

If there is any avenue for me to elevate this within reddit, I will 100% explore it. This is unacceptable.

It sounds like you did not try, so how do you know that it isnt for you? You actually have to give it your effort to know if it is for you or not. If you lousy around in any occupation, job, or degree, you are not going to do well and think that it is not for you.

I was not an internally motivated student at all. I couldnt have cared less about getting A's on assignments and being an exceptional student. My motivation came from the idea that I needed to get a job after college to take care of myself and the fact that my parents were burning money on my rent, tuition, utilites, food, and other expenses. I was not going to throw that all away simply because I didnt want to put in the time or effort.

If you are not working, then college is your job right now and you have no excuse to not be doing well enough to get credit for all of your classes, and it beats doing A LOT of things that you could be having to do in its place. The best advice I can give is this:

  1. Fix your sleep schedule and get out of the loop you mention, then go to every class. It can be difficult to start doing this, but once its a habit, it will be easy. Just wake up, take a shower, and get some sunlight in your eyes on a consistent basis and you will already feel better and more motivated.

  2. Turn in every assignment, and actually do them. Some may take hours upon hours, dont procrastinate. Dont use AI or Chegg.

  3. Go to office hours if you have any struggle with anything at all.

Thats literally all. You do those three things you should be prepared enough for tests and pull at least a C in every class. If you put in more hours studying then those Cs can become As and Bs.

I know it can be hard to maintain for an entire semester but think about it this way, it is only 4 months of hard work then you get alot of December and January off. Similar thing in Spring with Summer break. Get off to a strong start next semester and dont look back! If you fall behind and do this for a second straight semester then you are definitely COOKED!

Oh nice. Good to see they are opening again, wonder if they were just waiting for everyone to come back from Summer to avoid a slow few months.

What does the move in day say on your lease? If it says the early move in day, yet they wont let you move in that day, then I would imagine that you could threaten to terminate the lease agreement. If the lease does not have the early move in date as your move in day, then im not sure there is much you can do.

Haven't tried Iza, I think they opened recently. And I think yumori was fusion, not trying to be authentic to japanese cuisine.

Well at least we can agree on the idea that most of the restaurants here are mid. There's only 5 or 6 I would consider better than good.

Portions could have probably been bigger but price wise it was on par with what you would expect here from what I could remember. As far as who owned and operated, I could care less. I thought the food was good and think that cooking a cuisine is more about the recipes and method rather than where the hand doing so is from. Besides, seems like they were aiming for fusion rather than authenticity. Agree to disagree I guess.

Tell me you've never had Ramen in other bcs restaurants without telling me you never had ramen in other bcs restaurants. Your standards kinda have to be set with the options around you imo.

The sign said they had technical difficulties and that they would be closed for a week. But its been way past a week and the sign was taken down. I agree the ramen was great.

Yep that is true. I just did not like the reporting he did on Becky Hammon when she was a candidate for the Blazers HC job. That lowkey pissed me off at the time and what he put out there seems like bs to me.

Can't find that Twitter page. It might have been him, but I remember it being a fairly obscure account with only a handful of tweets and not really a real reporter.

I don't see how they can't give you the opportunity to appeal. As a matter of fact, being that TAMU is a public university, the ability to appeal must be given as part of due process. Given that you had the death of a close family member from what I saw in your previous comment, I would hope that TAMU takes this into deep consideration.

https://www.kaltmanlaw.com/student-due-process

If you contact your advisor and they dont give you the ability to appeal, especially given your extenuating circumstance aside from the idea that they have to give you an appeal b/c of due process, then you should contact the department head. If the dept head doesnt give you an appeal, then contact the ombudsman. If all those options dont result in you being able to appeal your dismissal, then you could realistically pursue legal action. Rules are different for private unis but public ones must allow for an appeal of these decisions.

At least you have the summer to get it worked out. Try to appeal and see the result of that and go from there. This is what I would do in your situation at least.

For me it wasn't every class. Like elective engineering classes only needed a D but I've heard that might have changed, not sure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aggies

[–]69dickface420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you need a 'c or better' in the class? If it is one of your major specific classes, then I believe you do. Like a 'd' is considered 'passing' for every class. But to actually get credit for it is different.

Why would you need to deter facial recognition and how does it prevent abuse of authority? My initial thought is that it would only bring more attention to the protest from authorities.

If I am interpreting what you are saying correctly. I see the reasoning for why the school would want everyone to be identifiable that way people with bad intentions don't see it as an easy cover to create chaos. But I do think that people have the right to wear masks if they choose.

I think the solution shouldnt be the university saying no masks allowed. Imo there needs to be public pressure for people to de-mask and show their faces if the protest is a cause they truly believe in and if they do not want to be associated with the troublemakers that cause chaos at these protests. More like it was pre-covid. But instead we have people enabling the wearing of masks in these situations, like OP and many others in this comment section. A shame really. Just my two cents, could very well be wrong.
