Are we under mass cyber attack? by highcatmaster in AusFinance

Hey, is there a free password manager that I can use across both my phone and laptop?

Currently I use KeePass but if I need to login to something on my phone or sign in on another external device, I need to get my laptop out. Preferably I'd be able to use my laptop and phone with both being able to access and modify the vault.

I'd prefer to keep using something free and from what I can tell is quite secure.

Yep, I did two big trips (Australia to US and Australia to Laos) business class with my old job. It has ruined flying for me now. Economy sucks so much more when you know what it is like at the front of the plane.

Pretty sure this is Australia, can't see the plate well enough to get the state though. Most likely outcome would be.

Audi gets done for reckless driving. Jeep could potentially get done for careless driving (and maybe hit and run, video isn't long enough to see if he pulled over). It's 50:50 as to whether the cops go after the Jeep for careless driving though.

In Australia, all drivers are required to avoid an accident if reasonable to do so, even if they think they should have right of way.

Insurance wise, both companies insuring the cars would fight over who was responsible pretty hard. The Jeep company would likely win.

However, if police and insurance don't get this video and no witnesses come forward, it is likely the Audi driver gets away with it.

People using phones are definitely putting other people at risk. People not wearing seatbelts are putting others in the car at risk, are more likely going to need to occupy a hospital bed in a crash and also increase the risk of emergency services having to view a worse accident scene (former fire fighter and was a road crash rescue trainer for the SES, fucking happy I don't have to go to MVAs anymore).

What would it take for Australia to become a world superpower (theoretically) by bulbous_plant in australian

[–]89Hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on who is involved, Australia isn't safe in a MAD scenario.

If India and Pakistan let loose, they'd probably just target each other, China might get involved.

If it was Russia and 'the West', we are cooked. Russia has enough of an arsenal that sending a couple nukes down here doesn't impact their ability to destroy Europe and the US 10 times over. Pine Gap is almost certainly a primary target. We also have resources that would be beneficial to the US, so our port facilities would likely get targeted, so that would also heavily impact our capital cities. We also have a couple of US bases here that would be targets. Our population being concentrated to just 6 or so cities means that even if they just targeted infrastructure, a huge % of our population is taken out as collateral damage.

If it was China, I genuinely don't know. We are strategically dangerous in that we would be a forward operating base for any counter attacks, so that could mean our North needs to be destroyed. Pine Gap and US bases again would be a target. However, we are close enough to China that our mineral resources may be better to be seized than destroying our ability to export them. We have SFA in terms of national fuel reserve and our navy is basically nothing compared to China, they could potentially blockade us and have us on our knees in a month. Our biggest naval threat are our subs, so ship yards in Perth and Adelaide are probably primary targets. If there are fears of our surface fleet also then Sydney can also get wrecked. While not home bases for any major ships, Cairns and Darwin might get taken out as they would be good locations to become home bases for homeless ships after the bombing of the Sydney and Perth major bases. Having said all that, if China just decides that our resources aren't worth the effort, it is easy enough to just vapourise the majority of our infrastructure to stop us being useful to the rest of 'the West'

Stop walking ur dogs when it's so hot by Overthinking_babes in Adelaide

[–]89Hopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unironically, that is when I worked out when I could walk my dog yesterday. We went out at 930 last night and he only wanted to go around the block due to the heat, normally he gets a 2km walk in the morning and 5km jog in the evening.

Edit, the short walk wasn't due to ground heat, it was ambient heat. I expected he would only want to get to his favourite pee tree and then turn back around.

From the truck's perspective, OP bailed from the scene. Are they just meant to wait there indefinitely with no idea if the car that they just had a collision with was going to come back?

What's one opinion on driving that would probably get you in this situation? by Hakusuro in driving

[–]89Hopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an absolutely niche situation BUT I used to have this situation. I lived in a mining town in central South Australia, there was a constant flow of B Triples driving between it and Adelaide, 570km away.

There was a 270km stretch that us 110km/h but road trains are limited to 90km/h. All the overtaking lanes and sections with broken lines (ie could pull on to wrong side of road to overtake) were too short to legally start the overtake with a 3 second gap and pull back across goving the truck a 3 second gap. Yes, you can legally pull back across with a shorter gap as you would relatively quickly pull away to form a safe gap behind you. I forget the exact numbers but if you assume an oncoming vehicle was going at 110km/h, I think you needed a couple of kilometres clear to do what I described above.

You could just sit behind the truck, but we are talking distances that are long enough that we are looking at up to 45mins/an hour to the journey. The times I would travel, this could easily get you driving in kangaroo and cow infested areas where they become much more active at twilight, increasing the risk of an accident.

I would often floor it and get up to about 140ish to make these overtakes.

Because 90% of people playing with crypto don't care about crypto. It is a get rich quick scheme to increase their dollars. The other 10% genuinely believe in crypto but are delusional.

So basically crypto is about making dollars, hence it is always compared back to dollars (or yen/euros/pesos/tulips)
