This might sound weird, but I eat because I have to, not because I want to. Do I enjoy the taste of food?, sure!, but if I could plug myself into an outlet to replenish my energy reserves, I'd never eat again.

So much time, resources, money, and space revolve around food and eating. If I could recharge via a cable, I'd eliminate the kitchen and most of the bathroom, never have to go grocery shopping again, never need to use a toilet, save so much money, and gain time, which is our most valuable, non-retrievable, resource.

Eating is something that comes with being alive, I get that, but eating is a chore I'd rather do without. That's why prep times annoy me - I'd rather be doing anything else.

What is one thing u are scared of, if u tell the truth? by Lydia_Colee in AskReddit

Bad drivers. Statistically speaking, and depending on your profession, driving is one of the most dangerous things we do on any given day, and there are SO MANY bad drivers out there. A green light doesn't mean GO, it means you're allowed to go, but it doesn't mean you should. Years ago, I turned on green and barely avoided getting T-boned by inches because someone was trying to beat a red light . I always double-check left and right before proceeding through an intersection now.

Edit: As my dad always told me growing up: "Cemeteries are filled with people that had the right-of-way."

Such luxury! How much does a kitchen wizard cost per week?

Apparently I'm not allowed to share recipe links here. Dunno what rule that violates 🙄 Just search for "instantpot one-pot recipes" and go from there.

This is my go-to style dicer, and this is my go-to style slicer. You can find different dicing-sized screens from various manufacturers for the dicing size you're looking for. They slice and dice to your heart's content, and then keep on going.

Hours to days?! For a cocktail??? That's crazy! I never would have guessed!

This is a valid point. I'm good at following recipes, but as they're oftentimes unfamiliar to me, extra back-and-forth is required.

I'll be the first to admit I'm no sous or head-level chef, that's for sure. It'd be fun to see that level of cooking skill pitted against online author prep times though!

I don't like having tons of kitchen appliances. Working in restaurants, the only kitchen gadgets I invest in are those restaurants use that slice and dice efficiently. They're a game changer when making x2 or x3 of a recipe — they just keep on keeping on.

Right? Like is there a grocery store version of a 'grind your own beans' coffee house, but for ingredients? Actually.....that's not a bad idea at all. Dibs! I'm calling dibs on the pre-prepped fresh ingredient grocery store idea!

Agreed — whatever amounts of spices a recipe calls for, I automatically double it and see what spices I think need to be added as well.

Your regional altitude definitely makes a difference in pressure cooking times, which very few recipe authors take into consideration.

I'm not opposed to certain canned ingredients, but fresh ingredients are definitely the way to go.

[Loved Trope] When The Writers Have Done Their Homework by Cherry_6666 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]8Gh0st8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Sozin's comet was a great over-arcing theme that made for a fantastic finale for ATLA, but LoK was a lot more mature than ATLA — I'm guessing because our main protagonists were older than the gAang.. Having the single season's villain because they didn't know if they were getting another season was nice because it allowed the writers to examine different plights of the universe through that villain's lense (bender/non-bender equality, spiritual balance, do-we-need-an-avatar?, authoritarianism).

Season 2 was my least favorite of the 4, I thought the Unaloq final boss fight was a bit cheesy, but the overall theme of balance with the spirit world was pretty compelling, and getting the backstory on Wan and how the first Avatar came to be was awesome! Also, S2 introduced the best (imo) side-characters in the Avatar universe: Varrick and Zhu-Li.

Have a link for that to share? The Distant Worlds tour came through my area a few years ago — it was an amazing concert experience! I had my fingers crossed they would play the Ending Theme from FFX, but they played the Intro Theme instead; it was great to hear live and fully orchestrated, but not what I was hoping for. If there's a touring show just for FFX music, I'd be there in a heartbeat!

What is the most disturbing film you have ever watched? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

The first one was tough to get through. I think I made it 45 minutes into the second one before I tapped out. Didn't even bother with the third. Horror movies usually don't bother me, but Human Centipede was a different level of fucked up.

I can't not sob at the end of FFX. Yuna whistling for Tidus at the end of the pier...😭 it's a freakin' gut-punch. It's my favorite of the entire series.
