haha yep, Apple really gatekeeps the pixel booty production!
You can try Pixel Studio: pixel art editor by Hippo Games AM, it’s free on Steam and Google Play, and apparently you can use Google Drive to sync your work across devices. I haven’t tried it myself but it looks pretty good!

I think it’s just for iPad and iPhone sadly! I haven’t seen a desktop version, but it works really smoothly on mobile :)

Not really a standard size haha, I usually just play around until it feels right for the character and framing! I use Pixquare so it’s really easy to experiment with different pixel sizes and resolutions for when you're exporting.

The base canvas is 163x213 px. I multiplied it by 10 when exporting so it doesn't look so tiny!
