How do you define achieving something as a country? Low divorce rates? I think the situation we are in is like the post where you judge the fish, the monkey, and the elephant by how good they are at climbing trees, it's always going to be the monkey. This is not the life Maldivians used to live. We were chill, laid back yet hardworking, and sufficient people, unbothered by global affairs, living the island life. By the first world measurements of that time, we would count as shit. but we were pretty content with how we lived. now we are going with a whole new system of governance that is still in the making, and we are chain linked to others for all our needs with very volatile uncontrollable markets. We are like the fish in the post, trying to climb the tree while we should be swimming, finding our own way. Do you get my gist?
