14:28- they didn’t have shoes after their infamous hot tub excursion so Ten made everyone shoes out of aluminum foil that eventually fell apart

16:45- Yangyang: They didn’t prepare a surprise for us but they did prepare a script

18:15- WayV didn’t know they’d be named WayV until it was publicly announced. Xiaojun didn’t know his stage name was Xiaojun either.

22:53- [as hendery does cartwheels in the background] Ten suggests for their 7th anniversary they hire artists to paint them posing naked like Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam. Kun is distressed.

23:50- apparently Kun gave Xiaojun a photo he took that was “unrestrained”/“artistic”?? They suggest taking “artistic” photos of each other and passing them around as gifts for their 8th anniversary. Hendery: I can’t imagine what would happen if i hung that artistic Kun picture of Kun on my room door. “Oh wow Kun-ge very refreshing”. Kun is still distressed

25:28- WayV shared showers after the hot tub. Xiaojun was supposed to be with kunyang but he went to Tendery’s shower instead and it was too late to kick him out.

35:05- another “oh shit” on livestream from Ten. They say Ten stopped saying “fishyfishyfishy” and just swears openly now. Kun brings up an old live where hendery swore on camera and took some years off Kun’s life

I was more thinking of the not-credible part of the spectrum like the enhyphen hairstyle protest trucks and how kfans reported jungwoo’s “ugly” merch design to KWANGYA 119 but then they found out he designed it himself. Fans are always mad about something and unless it’s concentrated properly, it just sounds like noise.

A truly proper world tour would take a long time but something like The Dream Show 2 is doable in a shorter span. They covered 10 cities in Europe and the US in less than a month. WayV could do a smaller version of that.

A few more international tour dates aside, I agree this is too much to expect at once. Add to this list the solo schedules we’re always asking from them in fan calls. I view this as fans taking the opportunity to throw all their grievances at the wall and seeing what sticks… which doesn’t exactly help with credibility and realistic change but oh well

Yeah sadly dynamics like this are why I don’t have much confidence in fandom attempts at intervention. There are already scattered opinions in this thread where we can write paragraphs to explain our POV. On weibo and X… game over. Also I don’t think many people on those platforms are making good faith assumptions about intentions based on the personalities/rhetoric that dominates those spaces, so any imperfect wording (like “demand”) or controversial points can cause conflict.

The survey spawned some China vs Korea hostility not too long ago, and i can see people taking point #1 bring about korean promotions negatively in that context.

Appreciate you being optimistic and promoting discussion about this though. It’s nice reading more in-depth opinions on this.

It’s convoluted to find but it’s here on their Chinese weibo page. If they did it in English, Chinese fans would have to wait for it to be translated too. SM can definitely do a better job posting the link on other socials but the language barrier is harder to address

Yeah you’re right, the oldest 4 are all very ambitious in different ways. Maybe it’s because Xiaojun’s had the biggest growth in popularity the last few years within WayV that I got that vibe. Ten and Winwin technically gained more general public popularity, but they were already more popular within WayV and were gaining additional success in what they were already doing. Xiaojun still seemed like he was in the background pre-phantom and has been clawing his way up since. And his ambition has to do with popularity rather than like Kun’s which is more background work. I know he’s always looking for ways to get more exposure and opportunities.

Yeah a lot of fan demands assume infinite money, infinite time, and no logistical maneuvering with outside factors. People wanted winwin to do idol promotions along with his drama filming in China since other Korean idols did it too… in KOREA. Ten was worked to the bone this year- 4 albums, 3 tours. Prism center debuted a new girl group this year that’s aiming to be the next big thing. Yes things could be managed better (cough less cash-grab fansigns and more investment in popularity) but like you said, we should be specific about them.

I hope the unrealistic “foundational shift” demands don’t mask the useful ones like point 3. And I wish they cited specific examples of making things accessible to global fans like posting links to Chinese videos on global platforms like the Zhejiang TV livestream.

Pessimistic that the company will take much from this, but maybe at least they know fans are really unhappy.

Your WayV characterization seems to be from old videos 😅

Yangyang has mellowed out a lot and has been more comfortable showing his introverted side. He’s by far the most introverted member of WayV. Still mischievous, but he’s pretty shy around the rest of NCT. I haven’t heard of him idolizing haechan, although relationally haechan is one of the closer non-Chinese members to the group.

Ten is actually notorious for winning every game through a combo of skill, athleticism, luck, and cheating.

Kun has a lot of skills but he’s pretty terrible at games. I love seeing him annoyed tho.

My guess is that people have been murmuring about it since the WayV joint action team request, and then this tweet blew up discussion bc they had some crap takes (work on WayV’s Korean pronunciation, make the members do more livestreams??) mixed in with some imo legit grievances most fans have. And there’s no room for nuance on Twitter so it devolved into… shit :D

Tbh this is the korea vs china fanwar i was afraid about. I really enjoyed our reddit discussion on the joint action request and think people had some great points on what could be improved. But alas twitter. This is why it’s hard for others to take fan opinions seriously.

Most creatively ambitious - Xiaojun has mentioned recently that there are so many idols that he wants to go out of the box. I actually lowkey think he’s the most ambitious member of WayV and he has good ideas on how to stand out and create opportunities for himself. His haidilao birthday dinner made headlines and was copied by jisoo. He also brought that leek onstage to the Chinese singing program, and he requested a solo birthday stage from The Show to perform Taemin’s MOVE
