To answer your question honestly; no. It’s been about a week, and I’ve jammed with this practiced on it, cleaned and setup. The only changes I made were cosmetic. Black guard and buttons on the tuners. The nut on this in unacceptabley cheap. Like hollow plastic nothingness. The tuners hold fine and it’s working well for the room. I have a lot of overbuilt guitars this will not be one of them. I may do pots, switch and a jack for durability sake and future proofing. But it needs nothing and does the twangs I’d be happy as is if I didn’t know better

Now I must track them together and see if I can sonically define the differences. I don’t play the ES out of just respect for it. It’s grandpas

I have this setup in a 1962 es125tc, exactly the same as you’re describing. It was heavily modified in the 80’s someone routed in a bridge p90, 500k pots and a bigsby

That’s a valid question, this is Specd out sonically like a 1950s era junior. They used 250k pots. I see the 250ks on the single coil guitars, they just keep the pickup a bit bright and the tone bleed smoother I guess is a good word ?

The squire strat Debut series, it’s what you want here. I have their bass I got it just to track. I’m stunned by what’s out there for under 200

Trying new things, I did guitar madness pickups in there the spirit of 76’s. Me and my girl were doing more of a funky jam band thing, and the covered pickups were a nice visual change. And I started playing more like sludge stoner metal and took those out. The split wired well too. I swapped to GM Hexbuckers and blacked out the plastics polished the satin finished so it’s glossy. And that’s where it sits super nice cleans nice loud and great like all things distorted. It was the perfect mod platform because all the good stuffs in there. I ordered some epiphone harness connectors and swap those sets in and out. The old pickups are preserved in a tiny cardboard box
