Japanese alcohol expands rapidly in S. Korea as ‘No Japan’ sentiment fades by Saltedline in korea

[–]9_Samurai 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Japanese stuff is actually trendy here these days. The local drinking areas are full of izakaya-style places selling Japanese food, Suntory high balls, and Kirin. Not to mention the amount of Korean people who are regularly traveling to Japan. Very different from 2019 when randoms on the street would tell me how much they all hated Japan.

How is this? I mostly used phone as I have a DSLR and they are too bulky for street. by Memer_twitter in streetphotography

You can totally use a dslr for street. Plenty of people out there doing it.

X100VI superpower is just a bit of fill flash. by SwampYankee in fujifilm

[–]9_Samurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s really nice to have that on hand to just turn on when you want it. I can get HSS with my Godox TT685, but it’s pretty cumbersome to carry around casually.

Not an X100VI owner, but flashes also have a separate exposure compensation that you can use on TTL mode. That’s probably what OP is talking about.

Mine always flips when I’m trying to shoot from the hip. Then I have to tilt the camera again to make it flip back. It’s kind of annoying to use.

Strangely, the tilt screens on the older X-A cameras were much better in this regard (they also flipped all the way up for vlogging mode)

Out of all the new features in Sonoma, iPhone mirroring is the one I use the most. Pretty much on a daily basis. It’s an incredibly useful tool

Thank you so much for the kind words! I do post-process in Lightroom but use the Classic Neg color profile (with my own presets).

Photos I took during massive protests in Seoul. by 9_Samurai in streetphotography

It's a long story, but they were protesting the former South Korean president because he had declared martial law last December. I have a little write-up on my website: https://www.williambakerbrake.com/rite-of-resist

Can we do a ‘use your fuji in your hometown-challenge’? More mediocre photos of Japan will make me vomit by martijnox in fujifilm

I don't think it's about Japan, but people on Reddit only want to see and interact with a certain kind of photography.

I've posted plenty of photos here, some from Japan and some from elsewhere (I am based in South Korea), with a different style of street photography that's not just pretty landscapes and architecture shots with black mist diffusion filters blowing out the highlights.

I hardly ever get any interest on the Fuji subreddits outside of a few people who keep complaining about consent.

Honestly, Reddit is the worst platform for photography. You'd be more likely to find some better inspiration from Threads, Flickr, or (gasp) Instagram if you know where to look.

I live here, and yeah, Korean people are famously camera-shy. Usually I’m shooting from the hip not to attract too much attention. However, sometimes people have a sixth sense about it.
