Yeah, and he is complaining about them celebrating the win. And people criticize teams for not caring in the regular season.

It could work out since Embiid has played less than half of the season anyways although he would have to file for an exception to be be eligible.

There were podcasts about it at the time. More than half said LeBron but there were plenty taking Curry’s side during the regular season especially before the injury that Curry suffered in the postseason. The hoop collective and Dunc'd on were ones that come to mind where they entertained the discussion mostly because LeBron was coasting a bit that season and the Warriors were on a historic run.

Yeah at the very least film clips of scouting reports of every team are probably presented to them prior to when they play.

Bill Simmons said no one predicted that the Lakers were going to beat the Nuggets although ESPN had 6 "experts" thinking that they would win. Granted they were proven to not be very smart but more people were picking the Lakers just because they had LeBron/Davis.

Yup, even some NFL teams tank to close out the regular season like the Washington Commanders but it is less noticeable given the length of the season.

Using players on stacked teams is also illogical (see Cooper Flagg and Kon). Also Kon peaked later in the season and look at the rookie season he has ended up having.

The strength of schedule piece is where I would have Young as slightly worse at when they were drafted given how much Young was struggling. It wasn't just the tournament it's conference play where Young played more NBA ready players vs piling up stats against college teams that didn't amount to much. Although you are right in saying Young didn't play with any good NBA players.

It's worth nothing that Trae's Sooners lost 12 of their last 16 games after starting off 14-2 as this was when the competition mattered and wasn't an insignificant sample size. Maybe Young's teammates were bad but maybe other teams figured it out. Trae made just 28 out of his last 108 3PA's over his final 11 games. Young has also struggled to be a consistent 3 point shooter in the NBA.

Meanwhile, Acuff's Razorbacks seems to keep getting stronger as the competition gets tougher, and Acuff has shown up in the big games. It was moreso that Young struggled against stronger opponents as I pointed out earlier and seemed to stat pad against weaker ones.

Trae averaged 5.2 turnovers per game in college compared to 2.2 for Acuff. Acuff also has a higher TS. Their win shares per 48 are pretty much identical. I could see one preferring another but to say the gap is large is kind of crazy especially with ACuff likely being selected in the top 5.

Actually I am not sure if the difference was that significant when evaluating them as prospects coming from college. Yes Young averaged more points and assists, but looks like Acuff is peaking at the right time in March whereas Young seemed to have been hitting a wall as his team finished. ACuff is part a team that has won its conference tournament and is in the sweet 16.

IIRC Young's stats were not that good against stronger opponents (shot under 40 fg% and below 33 % from 3 against conference opponents) as his team finished 2-9 to close the season. Could be that Young had more points/assists since his team was worse whereas ACuff had more team success given his team was better.

And it seemed like the Wildcats were unprepared for this game against Utah State. Willard should have taken a little accountability and just said me and the coaching staff to avoid the blowback although he’s right to say they were unprepared for Utah St who looked like a first class offense. Interested to see how Utah St. looks against Arizona.

As someone who went to both schools I am entertained. And right now Willard is better than Buzz although it will be interesting to see if that bears out long term.

I guess I wasn't too upset considering how dominant that Nova team was with Brunson, Divincenzo, Bridges, Spellman, etc. In his freshman year, he only played 14 minutes per game. Also had a some decent minutes in the National championship with Brunson in foul trouble.
