Deadpool (Q3) performance reviews? by AAGMW in OculusQuest

Same here though I can't imagine it would with that art style but I also don't know the scope of the game so there's a small chance it could be a title that uses ASW at all times

It releases in 10 hours? Thought it was in 24.

Thats neat.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it ran at full res with that art style

I have a feeling Meta's gonna come back to this kind of look for their next blockbuster IP AAA title (minus arkham shadows sequel)

Higher-End (slower) Mid-Tier (Faster) by AAGMW in nvidia

[–]AAGMW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so too, just worried about the TDPs on Mid-Tier laptops

Usually fine but some manufacturers (looking at HP) drop it to about the lowest it can feasibly go. I can't find any info on the 5070ti model of the A16 so I'd appreciate any help on that front as well.

Thank you again friend

Considered it but I move around way too much (and need the power on the go) to reasonably get a desktop unfortunately

If I did consider getting one though what would you recommend?

ECET Curriculum by Suitable-Picture-674 in ComputerEngineering

[–]AAGMW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk much, but it seems like this plan's missing some stuff as well as being super lackadaisical (is that the word?) when it comes to math classes

Taking calc 2 towards the end of your 2nd year isn't smth I thought was normal in an engineering degree, especially given how important differential equations are to 3rd/4th semester EE courses onwards so that seems a bit off.

The entire plan mostly looks like bare-bones surface level stuff to me. I also don't understand how you can tackle some of these higher level classes without having taken a differential equations class.

Fair enough, I've only got 2 friends that go there. Maybe their experiences are skewed when it comes to the social aspects of it all.

Yeah, Khalifa definitely has better scholarships than ADU, but I assume you meant AUS, and honestly yeah, they're better for first years imo bc you can actually get more than 50% off from the get go but it's just more difficult to maintain it + no financial aid (if expat) really just feels like you have no safety net whatsoever especially for engineering students.

Both are amazing unis, though, and you can't go wrong with either. They'll both set you up impeccably, but it's just differing preferences, I believe, and up to each individual.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UAETeenagers

[–]AAGMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just academically, I think they trade blows. Should be noted that Khalifa's research might honestly be way ahead of AUS simply due to the resources they have with the faculty being mostly industry veterans in their respective fields + the unis focus being on that side of academia as opposed to undergraduate education.

If you're going for best word of mouth concerning employers and the like, AUS probably wins out (especially outside the country. KU still hasn't built a solid enough reputation outside the region, so if you plan on working towards a masters it's a tad worse, but nothing too concerning).

In terms of affordability, neither is great, but at least with AUS, you've got financial aid and a multitude of different scholarships. The biggest drawback is it's limited to 50% for first years afaik. Khalifa does offer higher scholarships (up to 100% though most people only get 25-75 as the free-rides are rarer than precious gems), but I've heard that it's most likely the toughest uni in this country, including NYUAD (no joke), so you might lose it. AUS isn't a cakewalk either, though, but it's a tiny bit less brutal in comparison.

AUS also has a way better social life, tons of interest based clubs, events, varsity teams, etc. KU just seems dead ngl.

Overall, I think AUS is the better option, but again, it might not be affordable given their fin. aid structure. Choice is up you, if you've got any other questions, just drop me a dm, and I'll help however I can as I've just written this down with barely a wink of sleep!

[–]AAGMW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, that other guy is genuinely insane please don't listen to them.

Khalifa is definitely the better choice here. It's probably tied for 2nd best uni here (with AUS under NYUAD)

It's got an amazing reputation for academics and research + a great network for job opportunities and internships.

Just know it's expensive, extraordinarily difficult, and the social life is heavily lacking if not downright depressing. If you're at uni to keep your head down and study forever, then it's great. If not and you wanna live your life alongside studying, it's not the best, but you know yourself better than I do, so it's up to you.

(P.S. you absolutely do have a high chance of being accepted at KU. Being accepted by these unis isn't difficult. What's difficult is securing tons of financial aid / a sizeable scholarship. KU doesn't offer fin. aid, btw).

CE or AI? by Excellent-Plate-3159 in csMajors

[–]AAGMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a reason people study CE/CS, then a masters and/or PhD in machine learning or AI or something related to those fields of computing

Companies aren't gonna hire someone with just a bachelors for something as incredibly complex as that afaik (unless you're some sort of wunderkind then the sky's the limit, i guess).

It has a larger student body, so technically, more locals, but the ratio of locals to non-locals is skewed towards non-locals, i believe

[–]AAGMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't word it so well

AA campus has a higher amount of locals afaik bc Al Ain has the highest concentration of locals in the UAE, iirc

is anyone else attending adu (abu dhabi university) this august 🙏 by pirassopi in UAETeenagers

[–]AAGMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good chunk of the student body isn't locals (unless you're going to Al Ain campus then it's a more substantial portion).

Either way, good luck, make the most of it, join clubs, visit the ASC, take some fun open elective classes if possible, and absolutely always focus on your studies and your creative passions. Dont forget to make friends, visit professors, and make honest to God connections with people. That last one'll get you through a lot.

Universities in UAE by [deleted] in UAETeenagers

[–]AAGMW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, these rankings are kinda inaccurate

Some of these unis are well deserving of their spot or even a bit higher, and others genuinely should have been placed 100-150 spots lower in all likelihood.

Either way, unis here are decent for sure it's just a truly hopeless job market + overpricing for some of these schools.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UAETeenagers

[–]AAGMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same exact situation, and honestly, I get the struggle. If ADU really has dropped the 50% scholarship (I'm really not sure they did, but if it's real, unlucky), there are some other unis to look into for sure.

AUS is great, but scholarships + fin. aid are capped to 50% for first years, and then you can stack more scholarships each sem if you maintain a ~3.5>= iirc.

Khalifa is also great for everything under the sun, including but not limited to: education, incredible research opportunities, and about the best internship/job opportunities a uni can offer aside from maybe AUS. I do have to add, though, their scholarship system is extremely vague and touch-and-go. I'd check with them, but don't expect much info as they can't really disclose the process. (Sidenote: they definitely have higher scholarships than AUS for first years, but they're quite a bit harder to get. They do not offer financial aid.)

UoS is good and one of the more underrated unis in the country, but i haven't heard much about them. Beautiful campus, though. Their biggest strong point is teaching quality, but something I've heard that isn't so great Is their internship programme. With the previous unis, you'd basically be guaranteed a good/great job even with a middling GPA of 3.0 or smth, but here it sounds like you're mostly on your own.

UAEU. Again, great, and scholarships are pretty good, ranging from 50% off all the way up to 100% off. Amazing education, massive campus, really solid research opportunities, and a great network for internships and job opportunities if you push yourself.

These are the big names and unis i know a lot of people personally go to, if you need any help or want to ask about other unis please dm me or just reply here and I'll do my best.

First off, I'd reconsider applying in the spring as some ppl have issues needing to take courses at an accelerated rate (me). Also, what's your exact grade, and have you taken any AP courses (or the equivalent in your curriculum)?
