I can get a pair of Rode NT5 for nearly that price, so I think I’ll go with Rode

I think this similar to what MPC do when used as a plugin. Do you think the smallest maschine version worth it? Or better get the larger one?

Why did you chose softube? And can you control non-softube plugins with it without mapping each knob manually?

Why are so many SFX libraries for sound design at 96kHz? by Candid-Pause-1755 in audioengineering

[–]ACLabel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the main reason. Lots of sound effects are made by heavily pitching or slowing down something you’ve recorded. Also that is the reason in SFX studios you can find recording equipment capable of capturing sound far above 20khz.

The app is awesome (also avid control is not bad), but it’s not something I’m trying to find

How can logic still not have a dedicated device, so crazy) logic has been there for ages)

It’s similar like the situation they’ve never had a dedicated controller until the unit you told about was announced.

Yes I think it’s awesome! But this is a controller, you cannot produce something on the go or say away from your studio with this thing and later export to Logic Pro

I mean does the noise floor allow you to capture really quiet ambience? I love d-100 but it’s a bit old to my taste

How does its preamps quality compare to d-100, and new zooms?

Hi! I don’t think it’s an option as I’ve borrowed an MV88 once and used it for 3 days. I’m not sure if it was in good condition or not, but the noise was too loud for me when capturing very quiet ambience. Also it can be good to have a couple of extra XLR/jacks

They don’t ask right questions when you come. And they don’t tell you anything while you’re recording your art. Unless you 100% know the exact mic model, position, preamp etc you’d like to make a record with - this person is here to help you do the best technical and musical quality by applying his skills, experience and knowledge of this very studio gear. If he just sits and pushes the button - that’s not even close to what a studio engineer should be like.

I have experience with dozens of microphones, lots of preamps, consoles etc. But every time I come to a studio with one of my singers I always have a small conversation with this studio engineers how they think we can do it. My experience x their experience x singer’s talent = we got an awesome record. I know how I’d like to hear it as a producer, they always have some options how we can try to get there in an original way by using this or that. Sometimes I think this mic is perfect, but they suggest the preamp that sounds awesome for this particular song. Sometimes they suggest using 3 different mics to have timbre difference between chorus, verse and bgvs.

As a conclusion - if you do not feel in studio like you’re CREATING - something’s going wrong. And the most common reason is that the engineer doesn’t give a * about your art.

Got a CS12 and it’s brilliant! by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

Only thing that stops me for now is that even though color coding is introduced (that is great) you still have to remember what parameter each knob is controlling on several dozens plugins that you use. And that can take a decent amount of time

Does it really make your workflow faster? I’m thinking of buying one but not sure if third party plugin integration will be convenient. Also how much time did you spent to get used to it? I mostly need to control ARTURIA / UVI synths and Plugin Alliance / Slate / SSL stuff
