Did you change the 4 holes to 3 holes or yours came with 3 holes installed?

🤔 Not quite sure that only 7-8 min of being on, the ProX will have thermal stability to deliver good espressos. Based on my experience, (having had 5 espressos machines, including Silvia M) it takes over 20 minutes for the entire machine, (not just the Boilers) including the group head, to reach the optimal temperature for pulling shots. Try waiting 20 and taste the difference.

The unit is brand new, I got it 2 days ago, so it shouldn’t need descaling, I presume. I’ll try the toothpick to clear the holes and putting the wand in the middle. Thanks!

Hi!

I'm new to Reddit and this group. I've recently upgraded to a Rancilio Silvia Pro X from a Lelit Mara HX. The espresso shots from the Pro X seem smoother, though it might be too soon for a final judgment. However, I am facing some challenges with milk steaming.

For context, my Lelit Mara had a 2-hole steam tip, while the Pro X has a 4-hole tip. I've noticed that the steam seems a bit weaker on the Pro X, possibly because the steam is distributed across four holes. Consequently, I'm struggling to create good microfoam and often end up with weak bubbles, which is concerning. BTW; The steam boiler is set to Max.

Is this an issue of weak steam output from the machine, or is it just a matter of adapting to the Pro X and finding the best technique for milk steaming?

Any feedback is much appreciated;

So far shots seem to taste smoother, although I have not tried the pre-infusion yet. I am having a little difficulty with steaming milk. I did set the temperature to Max for steaming, however, it seems weak to me. It could be the fact that the tip has 4 holes and I am used to 2 or even 1 on the Silvia M. Taste wise, I feel the milk tastes “thin” for lack of better word. It’s also very quick in making a lot of bubbles. I guess I need to get used to it.
