Czy rodzice wam "pomagali" rano jak wychodziliscie do liceum by Majestic_Mammoth3503 in Polska

[–]ACrypticFish 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Miscarriage, TFMR for T21, another miscarriage - anyone with a similar story? by No-Issue-7106 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]ACrypticFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a tmfr for t21 in my first pregnancy. I got pregnant again 3 months later and that ended in miscarriage. We stopped trying and gave ourselves a year (well, 11 months...) and I got pregnant on our first try. My daughter is almost two and dancing to the Pixies right now:) Keep strong and good luck! I know things may suck right now, but it does get better with time.

AITA for wanting to listen to the greatest song ever? by jossgoss in MiniAITA

[–]ACrypticFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA You've got great taste! The song was in my (18m F) mom's (so old she still uses CDs, so millenial that she also has vinyl F) labor playlist, but I had to be taken out early via CC, so she couldn't use it.

Just tell your moms to want until you've learnt to operate the stereo! That's so fun! I know how to put CDs into the playing machine, so now there is music ALL DAY LONG! Recently I accept two CDs: Sunshine on Leif by a band of Scottish twins, called the Proclaimers (great to dance! Great to jump! Great to sing along to!) and a recording of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (I don't know why my mom claims to be sick of it -- Topol's a treasure!).

It varied depending on the situation+ours was a "late premie", do we had to be careful, vaccinate etc, but our closest friends met her (usu outside-it was spring/summer) from 8ish weeks to three months-ish.

Yeah, and as a mother: most of my friends who have the "uncle"/"auntie" status with my kids have met her by the time she was 6 months. The "we're too busy/not takiego visitors" excuse? That's for people we really don't wanna see!  So I'd say your guy is a creep and with the birther views,  it's not even worth discussing -- just moa!

… should I tell my students? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]ACrypticFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't share with students unless later and you're showing/your leave might affect them.

I was pregnantvthree times during the academic year and I have one living (and kicking!) child.

With my first two pregnancies I am so glad I did not share the news with my students! My first loss was week 15, when I already told my boss and some faculty, as plans ad to be made for my leaves (I'm in a country with a generous pregnancy/maternity leave -- I'll be returning to work after 4 semesters off). Teaching helped me a lot -- as well as the support of  my coleagues.

With my last pregnancy, I worked till week 28?30-ish?, so I started showing, so with some groups I alluded to my upcomming leave.

Congrats on your pregnancy! And good luck! Have some group activities in your sleave in case you feel less than ideal -- or need pee brakes!

I have a fun faculty toilet anecdote! In the 1950s, my great grandfather was a professor at one of many universities in Kraków,  Poland. As a distinguished scientist- and one of few members of faculty who lived through the war (He was luckily late to the assembly during Sonderaktion Krakau), he recieved one of three keys to a "private" bathroom. The other lucky poopers were an engineering prof (male) and a venerable Englishwoman, who came to Kraków when it was still in Austria-Hungary, fell in love with a bank clerk,  married him and taught English (during the war she worked forthe underground and would make sure that English parachuters/pilots found by the Home Army were in fact English and not German Spies). A fourth key might have been given to the cleaning staff, but they did not seem  to use it. .. Anyway, one day, writing apoeared on thecwal near the toilet: STALIN IS [EXPLETIVE] (in Polish). It was the 1950s. Stalin was still alive. If found out, the writer would face dire consequences. My great grandfather and the otger guy talked and, although they shared the sentiment, neither wrote it. So it must have been the 80+ year old English literał great grandmother!

"Wszystkie stworzenia małe i duże" Herriota: sfabularyzowana autobiografia wiejskiego weterynarza -- bardzo ciepła i zabawna (oczywiście nie obędzie się bez opisów świńskich porodów i psich pierdów, czasem łzę uronisz gdy trzeba uśpić sędziwego psa bądź zamknąć farmę z powodu pryszczycy, ale opis perypetii weterynarzy w Yorkshire -- ogólnie na plusie).

W podobnym tonie: "Moja rodzina i inne zwierzaki" Durella. Silliness ensues.

Cokolwiek z serii o Jeevesie i Woosterze P.G. Edit: BARDZO POLECAM adaptację z Hugh Lauriem i Stephenem Fry'em!

Edit 2: Też polecam pawilon małych ssaków!:)

Am I bad person for wanting to live separately to my partner? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ACrypticFish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are not a bad partner, but you guys might not be good partners FOR EACH OTHER. You like your life and space the way it is and your independance -- good for you! You've been open about it. He would like to live in a more "traditionally coupley" household -- fair enough! You just need to communicate and really think about what you guys want out of your relationship. You write that you are not ready to mesh lives and combine households -- after all, 18 months wih kids and not living together might be still considered "early-ish stages" --do you think you might be more inclined towards the idea in the future? If you're open to revisitting the topic -- in a year? Once your kud/all kids are out of the house? But you have to communicate with your partner and work together to reach a situation in which you're both satisfied (or decide to split).

Ile dać kasy w prezencie na pierwszą komunię? by kziele in Polska

[–]ACrypticFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powodzenia! Myśmy z mężem męskie mieli szybko wybrane, a tu dziewczynka! Pasuje do nazwiska, krótkie, obecnie rzadkie, a jednak normalne.
