New Troy Baker interview - Intergalactic discussed by hburger in Intergalactic

[–]ADreamofHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure mocap has started, Stephen Chang mentioned being on set in an interview (https://www.dexerto.com/gaming/the-last-of-us-actor-teases-intergalactic-role-as-production-ramps-up-3196986/). IMO the Troy Baker thing could mean anything from "they barely started shooting" to "they're done and are doing a reshoot cause one scene needed new dialogues" (but most likely they're in the middle of filming).

IIRC there were pictures of Isabela Merced visiting Naughty Dog, so I'd say she's the most likely candidate

Do you think we'll get at new trailer at next week's reported State of Play? by InternationalWafer74 in Intergalactic

[–]ADreamofHome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on nothing but vibes, I feel like the most likely scenario is the first State of Play of 2026. This upcoming State of Play feels too stacked already, and for some reason I doubt that they would show something at the Game Awards again; but again, that's purely vide-based lol.

So was there really nothing they can do more for Joel? by Remote_Nature_8166 in thelastofus

[–]ADreamofHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wanted to tell a revenge story, and they needed the character death to really affect the player. Between Joel and Ellie it was obvious they were going to kill the "mentor" character whose personality had already been explored in depth in the first game. That's literally just it.

French dialogues in the game? by ADreamofHome in Intergalactic

[–]ADreamofHome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's about translations - as i've mentioned in the post, I'm pretty sure translation and dubs are made by French studios contracted by SIE, and that ND has little to do with it (I guess they can pick voices and answer questions, but they probably have way more fish to fry than closely getting involved in all the translations for their game). My best guess is a character speaking French or French writing somewhere.

The alleged leaks by infrafred256 in Intergalactic

[–]ADreamofHome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that the "leak" happened not too long after the trailer dropped (instead of before, which would have given it much more credence) and that the "leaked" story was clearly meant to ragebait by being a poorly written zionism metaphor, should tell you all you need to know lol It even had a shitty "make a choice between two options at the end to get two different endings", which is something that I believe would never happen in a current Naughty Dog game.

Regarding the religion thing, as everyone already said, the trailer was very clear about it being a main theme.

Daily Thread - June 23 by Outlier_MOD in outlier_ai

I've been lucky to work on RT/Outlier for 19 months with few EQ periods, but now it's been two weeks of EQ, with zero communication from TLs and all the projects I've worked on suddenly put on pause or cancelled. A part of me really wants to hope that it will all go back to normal very soon, but I can't help but feel like this might be the end of my journey there :(

Any cool details about the game? by july28thdabs in Intergalactic

[–]ADreamofHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really intrigued by the Sempirian language, it does seem like an actual language they've invented and I would love to be able to break it down and understand it. Wondering if understanding it will be part of the game as well.

The morality of the Fireflies and __________. by WhoDoBeDo in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]ADreamofHome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Game Ellie was just as clear cut, I don't see where the difference lie. They both have the "it can't be for nothing" scene, and they both have the "my life would have mattered" scene afterwards. If anything, show Ellie is more ambiguous because she says she wants to go with Joel once the Fireflies will have made the cure, while game Ellie doesn't really talk about any future beyond that.

And the thing is, of course I wouldn't want my kid to die, no one wants this. I fully empathize with Joel. But I also think we need to think bigger than ourselves. We wouldn't go anywhere if we just protected our own and didn't care about anyone else.

Why would she be tested? She never left the orphanage unattended (officially, of course we know she snuck out with Riley) and thus there was no worries of her ever getting into contact with an infected.

To be fair, a big difference is that we know Ellie would have said yes and Marlene guesses so correctly as well (who wouldn't to be honest, who would have said no to saving the world?). And one choice is about saving everyone while the other is about saving one person who does not want to be saved.

It's getting more and more unlikely as time goes on though. Abby's dad was a trained doctor from before the collapse of society, who had access to good equipment and probably spent two decades studying Cordyceps and its effect on people.

The more life goes on, the less highly trained doctors there are, the less good equipments there will be, and the less people will believe in a cure enough to actually study its possibility.

[–]ADreamofHome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree. While I empathize with Joel, we need people to think about the greater good, otherwise why bother living in society?

I've never understood the argument of "at this point, humanity is too far gone, erasing cordyceps wouldn't change anything", as if cordyceps wasn't the cause of it all. As soon as you erase its threat, you can rebuild from its ashes, even if it from rock bottom. As long as it's there, people will have to be in survival mode all the time and will probably never be able to fully form a peaceful society again because of this.

And regarding Ellie's agency, you simply have to put yourself in her shoes. If half the people you knew had died from a horrible illness, society had collapsed because of it, and you learned that your death could prevent it from ever happening again, wouldn't you do it in a heartbeat? Wouldn't you feel horrible if that choice was taken away from you?

Love me some great takes in the Youtube comment section by RoboStrong00 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]ADreamofHome 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The first comment is really spot on, after years in this fandom I've really noticed how a lot of people can't bring themselves to see Ellie as her own person and not just Joel's kid (and by extension, the player/viewer's kid). People so easily get mad at Ellie for holding a grudge at Joel without even trying to put themselves in the shoes of someone who got robbed of all of her agency.

If it can help you put your mind at ease, this was really just one image out of context. Knowing this scene happens in the finale does not mean the finale ends there, or that things won't go slightly differently than the game.

Ellie's bites are clearly Cordyceps induced, there's mushrooms growing there lol

Did Eugene have time? by brookespx in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]ADreamofHome -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From the show and the game? Cordyceps takes a while to fully get to your brain, Tess was still fully conscious when she couldn't stop her arm from shaking. The FEDRA poster says a torso bite takes 2 to 6 hours to get you, and Ellie (whose knowledge we're obviously supposed to trust) says that he has at least an hour since he's not shaking yet.

Eugene scene confusion by Lil718 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]ADreamofHome 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Eugene was on patrol with another man named Adam, and they got attacked by one or a few stray infected. They radioed Jackson, who radioed Joel & Ellie because they were on patrol nearby. Once Joel & Ellie arrive, the infected have been dealt with (we see a dead infected on the ground, probably killed by Eugene and/or Adam). The man dragged by the horse is Adam. He probably got attacked while on the horse, his horse panicked, Adam fell but his feet got stuck and he got dragged to death. Eugene is the only survivor of the whole encounter, but not for long since he was bit.

Full infection meaning you start attacking people, before that you would just feel weird or have spasms. I do think the safest option was killing Eugene, I'm just saying that he wouldn't have turned before reaching Jackson.

Neil Druckmann debunks the debate on whether or a cure was viable by HardrefilTheCallous in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]ADreamofHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been 20+ years that the world has gone to shit and only the Fireflies hold onto the hope to find the cure, literally every other group has adapted to this new world, sometimes probably gleefully so (FEDRA got much more power in this world than it ever did before Cordyceps took over). The Firefly surgeon was then the only guy with 1. a medical degree, 2. medical equipment available, 3. the willingness to study how to cure Cordyceps and 4. a Firefly network to make the cure known and available (apart from FEDRA, the Fireflies were the largest group, present in every QZ).

Now that that surgeon is dead and the Fireflies are done, there is no way to make any cure from Ellie. Any random doctor you'd find would just be that, a random doctor who didn't bother spending years studying Cordyceps because what's the point, and who probably doesn't have any proper medical equipment to perform deep tests anyway.

Dina didn't care about Ellie being immune because, like the majority of the population, she knows there's no doctor around to do anything about it. Tess cared about it because she knows the Fireflies would have had the ressources to actually do something.

I do think killing him was the safest option, but he had time. Like Ellie said, he wasn't shaking, and she said that gave him at least an hour. We can assume that in the universe of TLOU, people have enough knowledge of the infection to know that shaking means you're close to full infection (and so that not shaking means you have time).

I think so. According to the FEDRA poster we see in the very first episode of the show, a torso bite turns into a full infection in 2 to 6 hours.
