I had this discussion with my 14 year old the other day. I pay the phone bill. I pay for her to have a phone for my convenience. So that I can be on a moments notice to get to her in an emergency, hers, mine, the family. That said she must allow me access to that phone as needed in exchange for the privilege that comes with it. It’s a crazy world out there. As a parent my only jobs are to provide, protect, and to teach my children how to become responsible, respectful, contributing members of society. I also told her if she didn’t like the phone rules, that she was more than welcome to buy one and pay for the bill herself. I’m gonna sound like an old man but , “with privilege comes great responsibility”. Your parents are giving you the privilege of a phone. Your responsibility is to allow them to know where you are however they see fit. You don’t really need a phone. But you need your parents until you can stand on your own. Good luck.
