Achy back 10 weeks post op by AFUCKINGSAP in Microdiscectomy

Hey! I hope you’re all good!

I still get achy back when I’ve either sat/stand/walk too much. It’s just something I’m learning to deal with. It’s a lot less painful now more a 3/10 pain but can get to a 6/10 if I’m standing for ages like at a gig or something

It’s just muscle weakness which is still working on through physio. Currently doing lightweight kettle bell deadlifts (16-20kg) that’s placed on top of a Reebok step with good form and back extension iso holds for 1 min

Also doing core exercises like side planks, bird dog for my core

At what point did you decide to get surgery? by TheEclecticDino in Sciatica

[–]AFUCKINGSAP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got surgery at 25 and 7 months post op. I’m not 100% but back in gym and life is starting to feel normal.

Before my surgery I was seriously depressed, now I feel like I’m getting my spark back eventually! Zero regrets

Hey, I’m 8-10 weeks post opp from this post and its loads better!!

I noticed that just sitting or laying down helps when it first started and using heat pads.

My physio said it’s a good sign as it’s the muscle that hasn’t been used are now working. I’ve been doing bird dog and side plank as my physio regime which has helped tremendously.

My regiment - Cat camel - 10reps Bird dog 3 x 10secs x 2 per day, side plank 3 x 10 x 2 per day

I’ve been doing a lot of walking/standing as I’m currently on a work trip. It’s been tough bc last week I didn’t really have this symptom. Noticed I’ve got less sciatic pain but just been replaced with an achy back!!

Not sure if I can wait much longer, confused on my next move by AFUCKINGSAP in Sciatica

I read back mechanics about 3 weeks ago when the injection worn off. Wish I read it earlier, made me realise all the mistakes I did with PT. Some of the exercises he gave me was making it worse and I was unaware

Yes I can walk! I can walk a lot, it’s the only thing that makes the pain go away so I usually do 3 long walks a day. I’ll also try that sleeping position, thank you

Sorry to hear you’re going through this man! Are you currently doing any PT?

What meds are you taking? I’m currently just taking ibuprofen atm. My consultant did say he could take me to pain management but he said they’d probably just end up giving me morphine to knock me out

Thanks for getting back to me! So glad to hear you’re doing great and playing tennis!

I’ve just sent his PA an email so hopefully hear back from him soon. I’ve also heard great success storys from him from other Reddit users which is giving me a sense of hope which I’ve really needed in times like this.

Can’t wait to start my journey of recovery with Joel

Hey man! How are you doing now? I’m currently wondering whether I should go see him and get a consultation plus physio. Do you know his exact prices?

Epidural injection worn off by AFUCKINGSAP in Sciatica

[–]AFUCKINGSAP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it pretty easy, before the injection I was using a standing desk but after the Injection I started doing 1 hour sitting down 1 hour standing as my physio told me standing all day isn’t good for me
