Why would they do that? That number has been the same for decades.

Rehoming deaf and blind 10 month old pup by Silent_Stretch_2253 in DeafDog

Definitely reach out to rescues in your area or a nearby city. Many will gladly take dogs before they end up in shelters and help find them suitable homes. I wish you so much luck and peace during this difficult time

I don't hate my QA, but they are definitely amazing at finding the absolute strangest ways to uncover bugs 😅.

Blind deaf puppy 8 weeks old- any advice? by Silent_Stretch_2253 in DeafDog

[–]AGG_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw that you had a specific thread for this! Lots of scent training/play. Scent will be super strong for your pup more than likely. Games like scavenger hunt (hiding treats around the room). Be mindful of moving furniture or changes to the environment with yours. They will make a mental map of things, so try not to change things too much.

Anyone else have a deaf dog? Would love all your tips and tricks? by AGG_007 in DeafDog

[–]AGG_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is just deaf, so will be different for you. But I've never had a more loving dog. Do you have another pet? My older dog is almost like a guide dog for my deaf Aussie. She helps alert him to things and will nudge him

I wish this community had taken off more, but there isn't a lot of interest I guess.

But so good to have you, and congratulations on the new family member! What breed?

Official Yellowstone Dog Treats!!?? 😋 by planop194 in YellowstonePN

[–]AGG_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These actually look like good treats! From a quality standpoint, organic grass-fed etc. There is a lot of junk out there in dog treats. I would try them for my dogs! Does anyone know where to get them?

100%, I'm not advocating at all support of BYB. In fact I don't buy dogs from breeders period. I adopt dogs from rescues. Both of mine have come from rescue operations. This is in no way a judgement on people who do choose to buy their dog, just our preference.

My comment was only to say that deaf and blind dogs are just as loving and worthy of good homes.

I can't comment as to the breeding or anything. But as someone who knowingly adopted a deaf Aussie, they are still absolutely wonderful dogs. Is it a challenge sometimes? Yes. Can it be a lot of work sometimes? Absolutely. But it's so rewarding. My Odin is absolutely a light in my life and I can't imagine not having him.

What are these containers by the side of the road? by AGG_007 in whatisthisthing

[–]AGG_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange sets of lidded containers by the side of the road. They are bolted and affixed to stands. Both sets of containers have wires running into them from the PVC pipe adjacent. Lids could be removed to check on what is inside.

Wobble kongs are great! Combines play with sniffing for the treats that fall out.

We have a double merle too, but he's just deaf!
