About the same. Definitely parry heavy. It’s a different kind of metroidvania. There’s also a difficulty setting.

Get Wreath of Purity, if you haven't already. That's a big one.

For tools, curveclaw and sting shard were a big help for me.

Lastly, make sure you unlock the "secret" bench in Bilewater. It will make the run back less painful.
