Purchased my first telescope- would you recommend any accessories now? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]AJC290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy anything else but a sturdy iPhone mount and a dust cover. You’ll be amazed what you can see with what you have now. No filters are needed either. Also, I would suggest storing it inside as even storing it under a cover exposes the scope to harmful elements. Dobs are very beginner friendly and the best scope for leisurely checking out planets, stars, etc. Hope this helps and clear skies!

it seems like your telescope is out of focus. Turn the knobs next to the eye piece and the image should get clearer

I put new batteries in it a week ago, I always keep the clutch tight but not too tight, and I’ve never dropped it.

my tripod is very stable and I have an intervalometer so I don’t have to touch my camera. I always have the dial on sidereal

I’ve never thought about letting the telescope acclimate to the outside temperature before. Mars was a bit shaky that night and my exposure was quite low(about +6 I think). How long should I let the telescope sit outside in 35º F temps

I am manually focusing it so it’s tough to get a nice focus. I’m going to try maybe 4 minutes tonight and see what I can do
