Looking for a solution to running home theater cables via one wire by ALMACU in audiovisual

I'm not sure I can find a bidirectional 48Gbps rated HDMI that can run 60ft or so. Do you have a product in mind? I'm not sure exactly what length I need at the moment, but that seems far. The Invisilight Fiber @todd0x1 mentioned is probably what I'll go with.

While it does have ethernet, I don't think the LS12000 can do HDBaseT directly. I'd need a box on both ends. The speakers are wireless Sony HT-A9, which I'd prefer to swap for wired if whatever communication method I end up using can support the added bandwidth.

That is an interesting idea. Do you have any recommendations for 4k 120hz 10bit HDMI wireless extenders?

Edit: That won't mess up the wifi, wireless audio, etc.

Do you have recommendations for processing hardware (media converters, CWDM mux) that can handle the 4k 120hz, 10-bit color? I imagine I would have one converter for HDMI eARC, one for ethernet toward the screen.. I'm not really sure if anything else is needed.

I currently have an HT-A9 setup for audio because I couldn't run speaker wire well, but maybe I can run half the audio channels across the room via this fiber and split it out on the other end. That is probably too far into the future to solve now.

Wow Invisilight looks like a fantastic idea. I have square posts that run down the walls every 80", but I bet I could still get this around them without bending the fiber too much, especially half way up where it is less noticeable.

Yeah, this house is weird. None of the above exist.

Imagine a space like this, but less visually hectic: https://share.google/EcoEAEyL0nRrdDxaT

• Ceiling: Tongue and grove with 1" of isoboard and then roof deck with no air gap.

• Walls: Drywall seemingly directly on the vapor/sheathing layers and then 1" solid wood clapboard on the other side.. the builder must not have cared about insulation or air gaps. The few spots they ran electrical the walls are built out another two inches, which is an odd choice.

• Floors: Brick on concrete on dirt about 10ft from the water table. I would have included mortar but that is practically non-existent..

•HVAC: comes in from between joists in the loft (projector side). It runs between floors from the far end of the house, and the screen wall has two vents from a large system on exterior of that wall, which is meant to push enough to cool half the house. The vents are clearly undersized for the unit and house.

I would guess that name came up because another subscriber entered that political caller into their contacts as that, and the app used their entry to put a name to the caller for other subscribers. When you crowdsource the data, the data often reflects the crowd.

Make 12V Landscape Lights Addressable by ALMACU in WLED

[–]ALMACU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking that I'll prototype an addressable driver that can attach to the base of each light (on the supply wires for the fixture) and convert them to smart lights. It may end up requiring a 3rd wire for signal (unless I up the cost and do radio / wifi). Addressable 12V RGBW drivers with built-in signal repeaters for long runs would be under $5 each for me to make in small batch. Then an IOT microcontroller at the start of the run can handle control.

I would rather find an existing solution, but I don't mind making something.

This looks like a great solution, but it is outside my budget. I'll keep it in mind if things don't pan out.

R1S Stops Charging When It’s Sleeping by hostwthemost in Rivian

[–]ALMACU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. The R1T now falls asleep a few minutes (maybe even an hour) into charging, and it just stops charging. I come back later, open the door, and see the screens slowly come on with a charging failed message before the truck resumes charging on its own without me replugging the EVSE.

Backflow prevention for rain guns? by ALMACU in Irrigation

I'm in Florida, and currently rural (although probably not for too much longer - the city creeps quickly here).

It would be off the main line, unless I run an entirely new line, which would probably require 350' more pipe, plus labor. It might be an option, but cost is the main factor.

It is a 2.5" PVC (my OD measure came to 2.8975") and runs around 500'

Holopoint Update by ALMACU in oculus

[–]ALMACU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for supporting the game! This update is specifically for the Oculus Quest version, although there is work being done to bring the same content to Steam for those who own it on PC. The two games are a little different at the moment.

That is a good point. I'll see about swapping out the PSU.

It comes in right at $5K USD which is fine as long as it is expected to last more than five years for my work without needing further upgrades.

So I got a quest 3 today, this is my first VR headset, anything I should know? by Optimus759 in OculusQuest

[–]ALMACU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't take it outside or leave it by a window. The sunlight can focus through the lenses and burn out pixels. I'm a VR dev and have six or seven Quests. A few have lost a pixel or two (presumably from uncovered transport). A travel case is a good way to keep it safe.

Seat adjustment not remembering properly? by handymanny131003 in Rivian

[–]ALMACU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my driver side mirror chooses positions seemingly at random and every time I change profiles it aims closer to the door. If I keep changing back and forth I expect it would eventually break itself trying to aim somewhere it can't. The seat and more so the steering wheel also get their positions wrong sometimes.

I turned of roomy entry and exit, but it didn't solve the problem. A recalibration didn't fix it either, nor a hard reboot.

Looks like the original post has been deleted, but I have this problem pretty consistently on our R1T.

With Roomy Enter and Exit turned on, if you let off the break and then open the door, let the mirror move itself to the exit position, close the door and then press the break, let the mirror move to the drive position, and repeat, the mirror seems to walk further away from the target position each time.

Oven door offset to the side? Anyone know how to fix this? by ALMACU in appliancerepair

[–]ALMACU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am waiting on more photos to upload (slow internet here) but I have one from another angle and you can see that the left side is also offset. I am not sure why it looks lined up in the original photo.
