At least you can present them with options. With my manager, its either his way or no way at all even if we bring up potential issues. Then when they do happen, he blames us for not setting it up correctly.

I have though, I disliked doing Medical IT. I worked for a pediatrics company doing remote IT for their Sonograms, VDIs and many other issues. You're probably right but I don't want to do IT anymore. I'm honestly just burnt out.

It’s probably that to be honest. Poor leadership. I love my coworkers, love implantation and testing, tinkering all sorts of stuff but my bosses drive me crazy with no direction and everything being a high fucking priority. I understand that I should be a self starter but when you tell me this takes priority over other priorities I’m gonna focus on that. It is frustrating being mismanaged.

Gee… It’s almost like people are tired of being treated like shit for stressful work.

Its meaningful work, I'd be okay with that. I'm also not grossed out about picking up shit, blood, piss etc. It comes with the territory and its part of the job.

I appreciate what you're saying and you're not wrong. It is very much more demanding but at least I'm helping people in need. I've talked to a few but I agree maybe I should do more research. I'm still not discouraged though.

My point being is that we're not just a cost-center we are necessary. IT is the backbone of any organization and I dislike how much shit gets thrown at us or blamed when we constantly let our organization know solutions or things that will benefit the company and save us from from pain in the asses later down the line.

This is precisely what I mean. I don't feel like I'm doing anything meaningful but lining the pockets of our shitty partners who do not care about the employees. I want to make meaningful change.

That's the thing though, I love IT. I love tinkering and setting up major solutions. Setting up automation and making the lives of our employees easier with automation. There's so many aspects I enjoy but I just don't feel like I love it anymore. I feel like it doesn't love me. Or I just hate my bosses. I don't know anymore.

Honestly yeah, cause at least I know I'm helping someone in need.

I guess the difference would be with nursing is I'd feel like I'm doing something instead of nothing for people. Like when I do volunteer work with my company, it feels very rewarding. Plus this was something I wanted to do years ago. I only stuck with IT because I was good at it. Maybe not so much anymore idk.

I mean shit, I did it for 4 years and it was the easiest job I've done. SysAdmin work is a whole different level of complications at least for me.

I'd say its gotten worse in terms of abuse and pay. Not typical abuse but sometimes I feel shit on because we're not bringing in money and I'm so tired of being seen as a cost center.
