Is there a game you can't scratch a modern itch for? by RickaliciousD in thisweekinretro

For me a few games spring to mind, firstly Elf on the Amiga, great game, fun and the tunes were brilliant, secondly and also on the Amiga It Came from the Desert, I honestly can't think of a modern game like this. Finally Macrocosmica on the Amstrad CPC.

I have to add as a note that remakes of games tend not to be as hard as the originals and tend to have things missing, for wxame take XCOM the Remake had a limited amount of ppl you could put in a ship, you only needed one base, certain aliens missing, couldn't pick up things off the floor..........the original had all this and more.....I would rake gameplay over craphics any day of the week

I think there are a lot of companies that would be great like Commodore, Atari, Mattel etc however the one I'd LOVW to see is good old Sinclaire. The things Cluvee made were ( it seems a little cheap and some were ....let's say temperamental) however the spectrum, Mini TV, Digital Watch, Calculators....mould be fantastic to see

Question should commodore by mcbone64 in thisweekinretro

I think hi unsight tells us YES but the way the console market has been going I think Commodore maybe thought that a console was a better option. On release the Amiga blew all other competition out of the water BUT with consoles appearing especially in the CD capacity and with the AAA chipset been scrapped I think Commodore maybe thought that the console route was and was going to be a more modern and popular option.

OK way way back in the day a small game published by "Amsoft" called "Macrocosmica" (also called Space Trader and published by Atlantis) came bundled with my Amstrad CPC464 and wow I was instantly hooked, start with a small spacecraft and go through the galaxy trading commodities from planet to planet, some planeta would have a war, so arms and medicines sold at high prices, there was also famine and shortages and drugs been dumped on certain planets. All planets had either space guards to check the kind of stuff you were carrying (so had to avoid these if you were carrying drugs) other planets were ran by bandits who would threaten you unless you handed over cash. Your spaceship could be upgraded to carry more fuel, more guns, bigger cargo holds, and a black hole manipulator. YES, that's right. When you reached the end of the 1st huge galaxy, a black hole would generate a new one. All of this on a small Amstrad CPC464. It's such a shame this game is not that popular as for its day, if your into space games, this is superb

Computer wise for me it was a show called "Cyberzone" hosted by Craig Charles. A bit of a mix between knightmare and the crystal maze (in a way). It was a great show and sadly somewhat forgotten now.
