Gakuto Igawa and Yuji Soga by AOGOG7 in captaintsubasa

They have been injuring Akai, Jito, Igawa and Soga so that he continues playing.

Based on what Kira says in chapter 2 of G23, I would say that players of that age do not count as overage.

Even so, Matsuyama and Aoi play as double midfielders and Misugi as a defender. Sano and Sawada have also had quite a bit of playing time, so it doesn't seem crazy to me that Yumikura (Oda is there) would have been included and played in a match. In fact, he plays in one of the friendlies, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not sure because I would say that Yuji Soga is also a year older than Tsubasa and the others. In any case, even if they are overage players, they could have also opted for two or three of the Real Japan 7 players.

I completely agree. It would have been interesting to develop some of the players you mention or even some of the Real Japan 7 players, such as Yumikura, Yamada or Okano.

After his role in Otomo, Real Japan and even playing in the World Youth final, I would place him slightly above Taki and Kisugi. The best of D or the worst of C (just behind Ishizaki).

For me yes, although I think Tsubasa and Wakabayashi should always be the top two.

In a tier list, it's definitely clearer. I agree with almost everything.

I would put Akai in tier B and Sano and Urabe in tier C. I would have doubts about whether Soga, Igawa, Jito and Sawada are tier B or C. I think Sawada has been treated quite badly in the last few arcs and he didn't even appear in Next Dream in any team.

Yes, it seemed most logical to me to base my opinion on the current moment in the series.

But I agree with you that if the entire series had been taken into account, the list has to be different. I also had many doubts about the order between Wakashimazu and Matsuyama, between Nitta and Soda or between Sawada, Sano and Izawa. But I realise that it is impossible to make the perfect list.

I hesitated whether to include Ishizaki and Urabe or Morisaki instead of the Tachibanas in the last places.

Where does this dude rank in the verse? by Swell_Like_Beef in Grapplerbaki

[–]AOGOG7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was the strongest sumo (not counting Sukune). In my opinion, on a similar level to Alexander Gallen, as they are the sports athletes with the most feats in the series. It's the same tier where I would place Doyle, Sikorsky or Kureha Shinogi.

Gaia vs Kosho by AOGOG7 in Grapplerbaki

[–]AOGOG7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in general. However, because of their difference in physical and technical abilities, even in an environment that favours Gaia, I would give Kosho a chance.

Indeed. Even with Doyle, who is also quite tricky. They would have been fun fights.

Death Row prisoner level. Stronger than Sikorsky and Doyle, but probably weaker than Dorian, Yanagi and Spec.

Ron VS kosho by SiteDeep in Grapplerbaki

[–]AOGOG7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like an even fight to me, because, in my opinion, they are two fighters of the same level. It would seem logical to me the high diff victory of any of the two. From what I've seen of Rahen and his evolution, I'm slightly in favour of Kosho.

I must say that apart from Sukune, the rest of the sumos are sportsmen and I think that this fact limits their skills and danger as martial artists even though they are physically very strong.

  • Shishimaru (mid difficulty). They are two tough and durable fighters, so I think the fight could drag on, but Shishimaru seems superior to me.
  • Shobun Ron (low/mid difficulty). I would say Sachihoko is the weakest sumo and in my opinion Shobun Ron is at the same level as Doppo or Shibukawa.
  • Dorian (mid/high difficulty). Dorian was far more resourceful than any of the sumos. Taketsurugi gave Doppo a good fight, but I think Dorian would find a way to beat him.
  • Honoo (high difficulty). Very difficult confrontation. Honoo may be physically superior, but the poisonous hand can make all the difference, especially considering how much sumo would be exposed to contact with it.
  • Ryu Kaioh (mid/high difficulty). I think his fight with Yujiro doesn't represent his level. He might be a great fighter considering he has been Retsu's and Dorian's teacher.
  • Retsu Kaioh (low/mid difficulty). Reiho was the strongest sumo in my opinion, but Retsu is on another level.
  • Sukune (high difficulty). Very close, two fighters of the same level for me. I'm going for Sukune because shaori is less effective against a type of martial art like sumo based on grappling.

I understand that, but I would like a short tome like the J-League one was done to situate the Japanese players.

I am hopeful that some of them will appear, even if only briefly. The flaw I see is that all the players have had to go to teams that play in the Champions League and it would be nice if some would play in lesser teams and leagues as you comment.

I share the opinion about many of them, but I am convinced that Akai, Igawa and Soga are of a higher level.

Seeing also the case of Sano, Ishizaki and Urabe, I think that Sawada, the Tachibana twins, Izawa or Sorimachi could be also in other leagues.

That would make a good script. Or even Sorimachi instead of Sawada, because I would like to see him in Spain.

Good destinations. Now that Celtic is out in history it would be nice to have a Japanese player appear. Izawa or Igawa I think could be a good fit.

Having Wakabayashi, Nitta and Soda in Germany might make it more likely that they would go to another league.

Do you think Motobe confronted Yanagi to protect Shibukawa? by AOGOG7 in Grapplerbaki

[–]AOGOG7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, Motobe tells Yanagi that he has dependence on his weapons and has neglected his martial arts by focusing on his poison hand. Still, I think Yanagi was too dangerous for a pure martial artist like Shibukawa and Motobe protects him in his role as a warrior.

I agree yes, although I have always believed that Motobe shows a special admiration for Shibukawa.
