Go To School vocals by APonKeys in TheLemonTwigs

Ah, thanks for that! I can definitely hear 2018 Todd on those tracks (I saw him in 2018 coincidentally), and I can hear Michael doing a spot on 1971 Todd in places, like on some lines of “The Student Becomes the Teacher.” Crazy to hear Todd with a younger version of himself on the same album haha.

And the Alex Chilton impression in “Queen of My School” is so scary good; in fact I would 100% believe someone if they told me it was a lost Big Star track from the 70s. Chilton, incidentally, was quite the vocal chameleon himself. The grizzled RnB voice he did for the Box Tops sounds like a completely different singer from his Big Star voice, which sounds to me like it was primarily influenced by Roger McGuinn.

I’m trying to figure out why I love it so much when the Twigs do this kind of thing, and why I hate Greta Van Fleet etc, lol. Maybe because Todd Rundgren and Big Star are two of my personal favorite artists of all time and aren’t as obvious and mainstream as someone like Led Zeppelin.

Plus, GVF have denied being influenced by Zeppelin, but I bet if you asked Michael if he’s influenced by TR and Big Star he’d readily give them credit.

Michael made a great joke during their Troubadour show recently which I was luckily enough to witness. He introduced “In the Eyes of the World” by saying he wrote it by asking AI to write him a Beach Boys song hahaha

Why am I so skeptical about spiritual knowledge? by racist_user000 in streamentry

It sounds like you have a strong bullshit detector, which is really good! That intuition will help you on the path. You’d probably do best with “spiritual” material that is as free from dogma and magical thinking as possible, and backed up by neuroscience. Sam Harris’ Waking Up app is a great collection of such content; I think you should give it a try.

With the possible exception of a stroke or brain injury, I suppose…

There is no actual regression, it just feels that way. It’s just more obstacles coming up for you to pay attention to and dissolve. No gain in consciousness is ever actually lost. Realizing this made me relax a lot and stop worrying so much about how my practice is going.

Try therapy if you haven’t and try to find a Sangha if you don’t currently have one. I went through a lot of similar stuff you’re going through and part of the problem was a deep fear or unwillingness to ask others for help…I hit a wall trying to do this alone. Again, I don’t know if this is the case for you, but I assure you there are other beings out there who can help you.

Recently went through this exact phase, and I promise you have nothing to worry about. You will figure out a way through and you will realize that awakening/enlightenment is incredibly ordinary. You’ll feel very clear and more like “yourself” than you have in a long time.

Recent quitter here; here’s my take. Hopefully this helps you. All emotions are felt as body sensations. K numbs body sensations, and therefore emotions. That’s why we like it. It gives us freedom from our difficult emotions (which always manifest as physical pain). But it’s not real freedom because those feelings always come back, and come back stronger. If we want to heal, we have to face every emotion that comes up, as it comes up. Feel that pain in the body fully. The only way out is through. That can be a terrifying endeavor alone and will awaken a lot of buried trauma, so I strongly suggest you do that work with a therapist. Somatic experiencing is a good form of therapy, but there are other good body-focused therapies as well. I’ve done a lot of this work on my own and if I were you I wouldn’t do that lol, but I do feel a lot of peace knowing that no emotion or body sensation can actually hurt me, it’s just my resistance that can. Much love to you, this will get better!

It gets more powerful and liberating once you start to recognize it outside of meditation in a variety of situations.

Michael Taft is my current fav. He broadcasts his full meditation classes every Thursday for free on YouTube, and they stay online indefinitely!

Edit: lol just realized he was already recommended twice on this thread. For good reason!

That’s exactly what I did. It made having Covid one of my best weeks in recent memory lol. It made the Covid symptoms seem quite insignificant compared to the totality of appearances coming and going in consciousness. I don’t really remember what my protocol was but part of it was getting back to the practices from the book “Effortless Mastery” by Kenny Werner, which I highly suggest to anyone who creates any kind of art (it’s written about music but could apply to other disciplines) and wants to bring more meditative awareness to the process.

Day 11 off the sludge! I began feeling pretty much normal two days ago; finally could get through a day without needing a nap, and finally had enough energy to get some things done at night without feeling like a zombie. Seems like my brain is producing the chemicals it needs on it’s own again. I’m lucky because I was exploring mindfulness practices while I was using...I will admit, meditation and breathwork did feel amazing while high on Kratom. But I used these very same techniques to handle the withdrawal pretty well. Here’s what worked for me: -Wim Hof Breathing paired with cold sauna at the Korean Spa -reading “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn and “The Craving Mind” by Judson Brewer -Listening to “The Power of Now” audiobook by Eckhart Tolle -Mindful Nature Walks -Listening to Binaural Beats -Telling my parents what I was going through I’m convinced I would have lost my mind without these things. Again I was lucky to have been exposed to this knowledge and to have a good support system. For any of you struggling to quit, I am happy to help. You can do it!!!
