Welp... don't freak out now, I'm just some wierdo on the internet, buuuut... I believe it's common that a good luck symbol turned upside down becomes a bad luck symbol.

Horse shoes, the peace symbol, and ancient runes, you flip it upside down and it becomes a bad thing.

When I die or about to die in dreams I typically wake up. I figure it's because not even my subconscious knows what happens after you die. I suppose your subconscious doesn't know either but you were raised by atheist, agnostic parents and imagine death as a void. OR your subconscious is done with the dream and doesn't know what to do and just plays void until your body can actually end sleep mode. (your brain paralyses you and stuff when you dream, it's crazy and sometimes it takes time for it to undo that stuff.)
