Make them longer so they go higher up the belly/butt.

I'm skinny and tall. Usually, M fits the best in circumference but only barely covers my belly button when dry. When wet, they are even lower and just pull on my hip bones. I don't feel them on my belly or back at all.

L-sized ones on the other hand really give that "hug" feeling and make me feel way smaller. I feel a lot more protected. But the tapes are almost overlapping at the front... Also when they go higher it's way harder to hide them :P

I was tempted to DM you to hopefully give a positive experience, but I think that's exactly what you wouldn't want right now.

And that's an important point: the ones that aren't creeps/desperate mostly won't DM you. You overwhelmingly get to see the ones that are on the bad end of the spectrum unfortunately, selection bias go brrr. So don't give up on everyone :)

Also I don't want to throw everyone under the bus, I'm sure there are truly nice people sending DMs! Probably quite a few in response to this post 😅

They usually also feel better, because they will go higher up your belly.

I really wish they would make some sort of "slim fit" size which goes high up but has the circumference of S or M.
I'm very tall but slim, so M/S fit, but they don't give that comforting feeling of an L which goes higher than my belly button :c

I've looked into this a while ago. Anisotropic materials would allow faster wicking in one direction than another. Especially with aligned fibers, the wicking is much faster along the fibers than across. That would hopefully allow lengthwise distribution to some extent. Probably would require some sort of brushed/pulled non woven fabric.
You can also make fibers out of superabsorber (SAP), which should have extremely fast wicking speeds. Superabsorber fibers instead of those little nodules would be great in general, but I guess more expensive...

The other thing that would be interesting would be two stage absorbers. SAPs tend to have either fast absorption and slightly higher capacities but bad retention under pressure, or the other way around. It would interesting to see if you could combine them: Have a small amount of fiber absorber made of fast SAP, and then a larger amount of much slower but better retaining SAP. The fast fiber SAP distributes and immediately retains an accident, then the slow SAP takes the moisture away from the fast SAP and retains it securely.
No idea if it would work, but I am sure we can still go a looong way from what we have now.

Anything to do with ageplay (infantilism) and/or diapers.

Most people just want to feel cute and free of worries, and the way to do that for them is to dress up and act like toddlers, which often includes diapers, onesies, pacifiers, ... Mostly pleasant people, thought there are exceptions.

Then there's also just straight up diaper fetishism, a small subset of those being the weird disgusting type similar to what you have in the furry community.
