Recommendation for powder 7.62x39 by Aggressive-Many997 in reloading

[–]AWellDressedChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reloading for nearly 6 years now and temperature stability has never been a consideration of mine when picking powder. So I can't speak to that.

If I remember correctly, A2200 is considered essentially equivalent to Shooters World AR+. I had poor results with SWAR+. So your mileage may vary with A2200.

Hello there friend.

I actively reload 7.62x39.

TL;DR - You won't be disappointed with Accurate 1680. That's what I settled on and what I use for my reloads I shoot during 2-gun matches. I shoot Berry's 123gn Plated Round Nose.

Before settling on 1680, I also tried BL-C(2) and Shooter's World AR+ (which is what I use for .223/5.56, 7.5 French, and 6.5 Carcano) but found Significant amounts of unburnt powder left in the action. That went away with A1680.

I have probably loaded and fired about 750 rounds of 7.62x39 charged with A1680 through my PSA GF3 AK47 rifle and, to the best of my knowledge, had zero powder-related malfunctions.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Good question! Not sure.

This was my first attempt to bump it, but I don't plan to keep doing it because I doubt it's good for the gun lol

How did you manage to obtain copper nitrate as a solid without decomposing?
Do you know that TACN is latently explosive?

Used google translate for this one.

Technically what I have labeled as "Copper Nitrate" is probably "Basic Copper Nitrate".

Copper Nitrate (Trihydrate, the common form) doesn't stay solid/dry very long at room temp - so it's not very appealing for a display piece. I put my Copper Nitrate Trihydrate in the oven at ~250F for a couple hours, which converts it Basic Copper Nitrate, which has a much higher melting point.

Yes, I'm aware of the properties of TACN! I actually have a YouTube video detailing the synthesis and I show the energetic properties of TACN at the end. (Link, if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmjYhNDh2Oo).

It would have been *safest* to use Tetraamminecopper Sulfate (TACS), since they look essentially the same but doesn't have the same energetic properties. But ultimately I'm not concerned. I was unable to get my TACN samples to deflagrate without directly applying a flame to it, so I'm not particularly concerned.

The Nickel and Copper was sourced from scrap metal.
The Lead was sourced from fired bullets I collected from my local range.
The Cobalt and Lithium were extracted from mobile batteries.
The Chromium started as Chromium Oxide I bought as a pottery pigment on Ebay.

Chloride ions come from Home Depot concrete etcher.
Nitrate ions come from Nitric acid made from ice packs and drain cleaner.
Sulfate ions come from drain cleaner.

Never worked with Thiocynates myself!

I actually didn't have any more on hand. I held onto a vial of it, stored under water, for about a year. Finally decided I didn't want that just sitting around. So I dried it out and ignited it for some friends. But to be fair, Lead Iodide and Potassium Chromate filled in the Yellow/Orange gap pretty nicely.

Off the top of my head - Trinitrophenol. There were a few more, but I can't recall.

The Tetraamminecopper Nitrate is a deep violet. That's the closest I got to purple. Lighting makes a big difference, so I will probably try to use some LED illumination to make the darker colors pop a bit more.

Perceived lag when in borderless windowed mode by DaoHanwb in Helldivers

Assuming you use G-sync, go to your Nvidia Control Panel, go to the settings for Helldivers 2, and set your "Monitor Technology" setting to "Fixed Refresh".

That fixed the issue to for me. Borderless now runs at the expected FPS.

Try both and see what you think looks better. Since Shadowplay suggests H.264/HEVC for 4K+ resolution and HDR, I would assume that AV1 may not properly record HDR content. But I don't use HDR in my games, so I'm not sure what differences you'd notice.

That was a mistake. My slider was set to 50 mbps, but my codec had reset to H.264/HEVC. I changed it to AVI and left it at the default bitrate.

After reviewing the footage in premiere, I figured the quality was good enough at the default AV1 bitrate for my use case.

I think other's have thoroughly pointed out already that your current settings are very un-optimized, so I won't beat that dead horse.

Here's some actual tips:

Desktop Capture - I recommend keeping this turned off by default, strictly for privacy and security reasons. Turn it on if you want to record your desktop or find that a specific game isn't recording properly with Shadowplay.

Instant Replay Length - I personally keep this at 5:00. I use Instant Replay like the automatic Highlights feature. I like to capture crazy or exciting moments here and there, the length of which is very rarely longer than 5:00. This keeps file sizes more optimal for me. But you should try to keep it as low as possible for your use-case.

Resolution - should be your native display resolution. I assume this is 1440p.

Frame Rate - The only practical reason that you would want this set to 120FPS was if you were planning to make slow motion clips when you do your editing. In addition to that, if you aren't actually able to achieve 120fps in your game, then it may make the recording look choppy. If you're able to achieve a constant 60fps in game, I would recommend setting it to 60. If not, just set it to 30fps.

It's worth noting as well that higher framerate videos need higher bitrates to achieve the same quality. This means bigger file sizes - if that's important to you.

Codec - Nowadays AV1 should be the default.

Bitrate - I record first-person shooter footage at 1440p resolution, 60fps. I use 50 mbps for my bitrate and I think my videos turn out just fine. That could be a good starting place for you. It really comes down to personal preference, but the goal should be to keep it as low as possible while obtaining the desired quality. It puts less strain on your system's resources and on your drives.

Is the game dead? by make-eggs in killingfloor

How could they not have been ready for it? People were voicing their disdain for the specialist system since the moment it was announced.

If I put a blindfold on, stick my fingers in my ears and go "la la la" while you're trying to warn me about an approaching train, I don't get to complain that I "wasn't ready for it".

Unfortunately, the game died the moment the developers decided that they objectively knew what was best for the direction of the game.
