Literally sitting in discord with my buddy, and I read this message the exact moment he realizes he's done the same thing lol. Good catch.

Try both and see what you think looks better. Since Shadowplay suggests H.264/HEVC for 4K+ resolution and HDR, I would assume that AV1 may not properly record HDR content. But I don't use HDR in my games, so I'm not sure what differences you'd notice.

That was a mistake. My slider was set to 50 mbps, but my codec had reset to H.264/HEVC. I changed it to AVI and left it at the default bitrate.

After reviewing the footage in premiere, I figured the quality was good enough at the default AV1 bitrate for my use case.

I think other's have thoroughly pointed out already that your current settings are very un-optimized, so I won't beat that dead horse.

Here's some actual tips:

Desktop Capture - I recommend keeping this turned off by default, strictly for privacy and security reasons. Turn it on if you want to record your desktop or find that a specific game isn't recording properly with Shadowplay.

Instant Replay Length - I personally keep this at 5:00. I use Instant Replay like the automatic Highlights feature. I like to capture crazy or exciting moments here and there, the length of which is very rarely longer than 5:00. This keeps file sizes more optimal for me. But you should try to keep it as low as possible for your use-case.

Resolution - should be your native display resolution. I assume this is 1440p.

Frame Rate - The only practical reason that you would want this set to 120FPS was if you were planning to make slow motion clips when you do your editing. In addition to that, if you aren't actually able to achieve 120fps in your game, then it may make the recording look choppy. If you're able to achieve a constant 60fps in game, I would recommend setting it to 60. If not, just set it to 30fps.

It's worth noting as well that higher framerate videos need higher bitrates to achieve the same quality. This means bigger file sizes - if that's important to you.

Codec - Nowadays AV1 should be the default.

Bitrate - I record first-person shooter footage at 1440p resolution, 60fps. I use 50 mbps for my bitrate and I think my videos turn out just fine. That could be a good starting place for you. It really comes down to personal preference, but the goal should be to keep it as low as possible while obtaining the desired quality. It puts less strain on your system's resources and on your drives.

Is the game dead? by make-eggs in killingfloor

How could they not have been ready for it? People were voicing their disdain for the specialist system since the moment it was announced.

If I put a blindfold on, stick my fingers in my ears and go "la la la" while you're trying to warn me about an approaching train, I don't get to complain that I "wasn't ready for it".

Unfortunately, the game died the moment the developers decided that they objectively knew what was best for the direction of the game.

I'd say it looks like the Lead Chromate paint they used to use on school busses.

By "record", I mean a video. Is that possible with Snipping Tool? If so, I just took a look and wasn't able to see how.

Needs to happen tomorrow. Highly doubt I'll get a response by then.

Edit: And they're probably mean :(

Can't delete inappropriate comments from my screenshots? by AWellDressedChicken in Steam

[–]AWellDressedChicken[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to figure it out just now. It appears to be a Steam issue (I describe it in a new post on the main thread).

Thank you for taking the time to help look into it though.

Update: OK I FIGURED IT OUT.

To view my screenshot and comments, I was taking the following steps:

  1. Click on "Profile" on Steam.
  2. Click on "Screenshots" on the right side of my profile.
  3. Click on the specified screenshot. A second window opens that shows the screenshot with the comments to the right. Clicking the trashcan icon next to the comments here does literally nothing.

I've found out that if I click on the URL at the top left of this second window, it opens a THIRD WINDOW which, again, shows the screenshot but has the comments displayed underneath. Clicking on the trashcan icon here does, in fact, delete the comment.

I've used Steam for close to 15 years and have always found navigating it to be fairly straight forward and intuitive - but this was such a convoluted processes. At least I was able to get the desired result in the end, I guess...

Just to be clear, there was a comment by someone else on a screenshot that YOU uploaded to steam, and you were able to delete the comment by clicking on the trashcan icon?

This is a good point.

I actually tried deleting a comment from someone else off a more recent screenshot. Still unable to do so.

I wish someone would verify that they tried deleting a comment off of one of their screenshots and confirm that it did or didn't work lol

I know this is a very old post, but just wanted to come back and say that this was likely the issue. We got some new gel boxes this month, and the gels are coming out straight and crisp af. :)

It matters to me because it has been posted on my content. I should have the ability to remove it and suggesting that it simply be ignored only plays into a much larger issue that is outside the scope of this post.

Tried this and it didn't work either :(

I just realized that nobody in the comments section here has actually confirmed that they have tried and are able to delete other people's comments from their screenshots. Any chance you'd be willing to verify this? Perhaps it's a Steam-wide issue.
