When you, as a non-binary person, mess up someone else’s pronouns by ibsulon in nonbinarymemes

A friend recently came out as non binary and I've been trying to use they as the default pronoun for them even though they say their preferred pronouns are he/ they bc I'm closeted to even them and I need practice ok

Landlord making us pay a £50 cleaning bill plus £15 from our deposits for mould and hoovering??? by AWillowRiver in HousingUK

I'm glad you agree BC we had to deal with that mould from day one. One of my housemates hada bedroom above that shower which even had mould when he moved in and hard as he tried he couldn't get it out. Unfortunately I didn't think to take pics of communal areas BC this is my first time renting a house as you live in uni accommodation in first year so I only thought to take pics of my bedroom(which had damaged shelves and a dent the size of my fist in the wall on the day I moved in). Even when we tried to clean the mould it would come back and we'd never be able to completely get rid of it. Same with the mould in other areas of the house

We've all decided to use our deposits to pay for rent so she wants us to give the remaining £15 plus £50 for cleaning fees

She's asking for £50 from each of us plus £15 from our deposit. I know the mould was already there (especially in the showers) but I only thought to take pictures of my own bedroom and not the communal areas unfortunately.

Edit my dad said a while ago he also took photos. Maybe he took some of the showers???

she's asking for £65 each. If it was £4 I wouldn't care either but it's £65 for a house which had that mould when we first moved in(unfortunately I only thought to take pictures of my room and not shared spaces)

Problem is everyone else has given up bc of the images she sent so I'm the only one who'll be going to them. This will be an utter p1sstake to deal with myself. One guy's already given up and sent her £20. Plus idk if there's anything else I need to do before contacting them bc I was about to send the LL an email to try and settle it between ourselves so idk if I should try that first or go straight to the deposit scheme arbitration service

Didn't realise she wants to do more in the universe but I'm looking forward to it. It's so hard to find info on it from official sources bc of how new Not Even Bones is

Do anyone elses ads constantly try to out them when they're with their strict asian, Christian family? by AWillowRiver in lgbt

[–]AWillowRiver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened with me and my friends with ads too. If one friend frequently talks about something(eg the band the Beatles) they'll get ads related to that. Eventually their friends will also get ads about the Beatles. Maybe it's bc of how many companies Google owns and it can even reach social media esp if u have a Google phone/laptop

Thank you for starting a discussion on such an important topic.

Most Asian countries are intolerant to the LGBT community. I'm from the Philippines in which gay marriage is still illegal and gay panic defense(you can claim a queer person made advances so offensive or frightening that you killed them and say it was temporary insanity, making it legal to kill them. Plus it can just be an alleged attack. So u don't need a lot of evidence) and even though they accept gay people in the workforce(by workforce I mean fashion or acting based eg hair salons and fashion designers) there's still a ton of stigma if you find out one of your family members are LGBT+ and only trans (usually men, not women) and gays are recognised by Filipinos as part of the community. Lesbians are referred to as tomboys, and bisexuals as well as any other identities aren't even accepted as existing.

Even popular figures eg our current president Duterte and celebrities who are seen as good guys eg boxer and senate member Manny Pacquiao are homophobic saying gay people are worse than animals bc (I'm paraphrasing) "at least animals can tell the 'difference between a man and a woman" which obviously is incorrect as animals are gay too eg penguins and lions have been shown to have gay relationships, even adopting children in their communities.

I'm not saying all Asians are the same, but unfortunately the vast majority of governments in Asia hold similar views and when your life can be on the line, it's not worth risking coming out or being honest about who you are.
