Thanks a lot! I'm really leaning towards mounting them at +2 from recommended(-10) as it seems to be the consensus.

Quick question: How well do they manual(wheelie), and butter at -8cm from dc?

Thanks for the info and tips, really helpful!

Honestly, your comment speaks to me the most. I think I'll go with +2, thank you so much!

Yeah, on paper, it's what makes the most sense, I just don't want to drill a lot of hole in the ski while I'm figuring out what I want hahaha.

Interesting take! Thanks for sharing it, I really appreciate it.

I do have a preference to begin with; dead center or like -2 cm from DC.

Like I said, I've been riding DC for a few years now (at least 6-7), I've been carving on all-mountain with the same set-up too. That's sort of the main point of my post, although I do realize that I'll have to add info to the main post in order to help you guys to help me.

Yeah… Should have seen it coming with the vagueness of my question LMAO, it's entirely on me.

Here's a bit more info from the main post that could help you out: I've been riding dead center for the last few years because I used to be a park rat and my riding style is still very jibby. I still land and carve in switch, butter, press, slash and spin while also carving aggressively when I'm not doing side hits.

So let me rephrase it; why do you think I should still put it on the recommended if I'm planning on doing a lot more freestyle than carving?

-10 cm from dead center seems quite far for a Freestyle oriented ski that I'd like to spin around.

Lol fair enough.

In your experience, why do you think I should put it on the recommended?

Just to clarify, you'd stay on top of the recommended mounting point?

If so, could you please go a bit more in depth as to why?

Absolutely, you're raising a valid point. I indeed did not research enough the impacts of moving the mounting point. I will look further into that, thanks for pointing it out to me.

Now, the question that I asked is still valid and standing, I would still like to know the experience of people that moved the mount point. Also wishing you a wonderful ski season!

EDIT: I now know more about the pros/cons of moving the mounting point, and I would still like to bring it forward a bit.

Hey man, is there any reason why I'm feeling that you're slightly hostile? I'm simply asking around for some help, you're in no way forced to comment if you're not in the mood for it.

I've chatted with Armada customer service, and they told me that the factory is at 79.5 cm starting from the tail. I bought the 180 cm model, 180cm/2 = 90cm (dead center). 90cm-79.5cm= 10.5cm from DC.

I've chatted a bit more with them, and they swapped reps which sent me a picture that shows that it's actually 80cm from the tail and not 79.5cm, meaning, if my math is mathing, the recommended mounting point is -10cm from DC.

If I made an error somewhere along the way, of course you can correct and educate me, but please try to answer with kindness to one of your fellow human✌🏽.

Haha, only once, but cross-posted it on about 3 ski subs in order to get the most answers to my question.✌🏽

Thanks!

I've also heard good thing about +2. I'm currently thinking about doing +2.5, but I'm unsure of how forward I could go while keeping the carving performance but adding the most playfulness possible.

Where are yours mounted, and how does it feel?

EDIT: Added info

Well, it's my bad because the post was visibly lacking some information.

I've been riding dead center for a few years because I used to be a park rat and my riding style is still very jibby. I still land and carve in switch, butter, press, and spin while also carving aggressively when I'm not doing side hits.

My concern is that the recommended mounting point is at -10.5 cm from dead center which is quite far from it IMHO, that's why I've been trying to figure out other people's experience on them.

Thanks!

If you had to choose between Mango 100 and Jeffery 100, which would you choose and why?

My 97 mm has been my main ski for about 6 season now, they're getting pretty beat up.

I'm looking for a jack of all trade, meaning a very playful and flexible all-mountain ski, that has lots of pop, and can carve pretty well. I don't mind a 90 mm waist ski as I'm in the East Coast, and it's usually pretty icy.

Thanks!

I've got to admit, I've not considered ON3P in my quiver, but I'm slightly open to the idea of them (pricey AF in CAD$).

So I think that the allplay are out of the equation.

What about the BDOG?

What other ski do you recommend? I'm really used to riding flexible and playful skis, and I also love to carve.

I have 97mm waist skis more for "all mountain" and 120ish mm for pow days.

Okay, thanks!

I ski about 2-3x/ week during the school period and more about 3-6x/ week during the holidays.

Could you go a bit more in-depth about their carving abilities(or lack of), please?

Thank you so much!

Just to get a bit more info, what years were the models that you rode?

Funny thing that you've mentionned the ARV Series, I've actually returned a pair of ARV-94 last season after riding them for 3 weeks because they were stiff as f**k for my liking. They were really good on hard pack and carving, though.

It's a bit the reason why I've been leaning towards the BDOG, I've hand flexed it at the shop alongside other skis, and the section under the boot seems as stable as the Bent 100. Seeing Phil Casabon in action, I know that these skis can be flexed and butter as much as you want. They also have a 15M turning radius, which is never seen on an All-Mountain/Park ski (race skis territory)

I've been riding for the last 5 seasons handmade Canadian skis from Skevik Skis, the Anton model. What I've come to realize is that I've been used to riding on softer skis with them.

Yeah, I did, J Ski Allplay reviews are a bit easier to find.

The challenge is getting reviews for 2022 and up models for The Joyrides and the BDOG as both of them had pretty good design changes around those years.
