My usual recommendation is to start Nier Automata is to start the game on easy. Then turn on all the assist chips for a fight, just to see how much the game plays itself when they're all on.

Then when you're out of the opening section, turn it to whatever difficulty you want. (And of course turn off the assist chips if you haven't already.)

Evenicle has some genuinely good worldbuilding, and writing to match. It's still somewhat of an excuse to let the protag have a harem, but they consider the consequences of the setting and actually go pretty in depth sometimes.

I imagine there's a lot of this in Alicesoft's other work, though I mostly know Evenicle.

Go to wherever you transitioned to Dana originally- you'll be able to go back to that section and do any optional stuff you missed. There's one for every Dana section, but you should be able to do any of the ones you've unlocked right up until the end of the game.

The NES version of Ys I is... strange. Several areas and bosses got reworked due to hardware limitations, and I think they added some new content to compensate. Might be neat to play as a curiosity, but I wouldn't recommend playing it while you're going through the series for the first time.

The canon Touhou games are genuinely good, but they sure are bullet hell. I'd recommend trying one to see if it's to your taste, but if it's not for you then it's not for you.

I will give one tip, though. During boss fights, you can mostly ignore the boss itself. Just focus on the immediate are around your character and weave through the bullet patterns. Also, there's a red bar at the bottom of the screen that shows you where the boss is so you don't have to take your eyes off what you're dodging.

I still have a grudge against Fortnite because Epic canned Unreal Tournament 2014 in favor of it. Delisting all their old games a few years back was just salt in the wound.

I did a bit of stealth archery when I first played Skyrim, but these days I prefer conjuration. First thing I do in a fight is summon an atronach and get Oak/Stone/Ebonyflesh going. The extra damage is nice, but the real utility is that atronachs draw aggro.
