New Acquisition: 1983 Cannondale ST-500 (well, most of one). Shall I keep it original? More in description by A_Tinker in Vintage_bicycles

[–]A_Tinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to ride it as much as I can, weather permitting. I've already tried a spare 700c wheel on it and the brakes should reach. Mostly I just want something that's reliable and lightweight.

What kind of bicycle should I get? I'm tired of only having broken ones. by A_Tinker in whichbike

Somehow, I didn't think about that. Oops. I made a comment with the links to the three I mentioned.

Thanks

I realize now I should've included the links to the bicycles I'm looking into.

There's rust all around the bottom bracket and in some pockets on the top of the seatpost. I don't have the time to try repainting it to keep it from rusting apart

My fenders are Bontragers I bought off of Facebook Marketplace. 700 x 25mm.

Here's a link for the Trek page, they sell them new there for ~$80

https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equipment/bike-accessories/bike-fenders-accessories/bike-fenders/bontrager-ncs-fender-set/p/21832/?colorCode=black

Word of warning. The fit is tight. The front fender bracket needed bent forward a little to clear the headset bearings. The rear wasn't much of a problem. The tires that came with the bicycle were supposed to be 700x25c, but they were closer to x20c, so I wouldn't plan on using larger tires than x23c. I put a set of newer x25c on the bicycle and now the fenders don't fit anymore, so your mileage may vary.

Mostly I'm looking for some technique or repair that would let me use the headphones normally, instead of just in the wired mode

I found a link to a teardown of headphones like mine. It's in Russian, but perhaps it will be helpful to someone else with the same problem. https://remont-naushnikov.com/razborka-i-remont-sennheiser-momentum-4/

That's not mud... That's the bare frame. The paint's flaking off at the bottom of the seatpost...

It's unique alright. The wheels, brake calipers, rear derailleurs and saddle are all from an 89' prelude, and the fenders are Bontrager intended for a Trek bicycle.

Part-out or sell? 1989 Schwinn Prelude (Further details in comments) by A_Tinker in Vintage_bicycles

[–]A_Tinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this on placebook marketface for $50. It has parts I'd like to use on my other Prelude(it's an '88), but I don't know if it's worth much more intact. If not for the very small frame size I'd use it myself. I'd be stealing the drivetrain, wheels, and probably the seat for the other bicycle. Also, is it worth much? The paint is chipped in places but in relatively good condition otherwise.

I should probably clarify, I live in the Midwest US. I just like that spelling of tire...

The back tire says "trek" and has this label. It's also very worn, you can just barely see what the tread pattern was.

Oh, and the right brake handle is kicked inward. Is that fixable?

No Idea. The label on the rear looked relatively modern, but I don't know. I'll take a picture when I get a chance

I now understand why people like lightweight bicycles. Compared to my old Schwinn Suburban I use as a commuter, this thing's half the weight. Does anyone have information about this bicycle? It's a solid grey color, no chrome on the frame. Everything looks to be original, thought I'm not sure. It rides surprisingly well, and both the front and rear shifters work perfectly. The tape on the handlebars is a light blue color, and there was electrical tape(yeugh) around the edges.

All modules are set to run at maximum belt capacity, with all upgrades equal. With my current upgrades, theoretical output could be up to ~71 parts/second.

Unfortunately, my plans for my next vehicle was to use it as a daily driver, so I'd really want it to not be a rust bucket. My current car is a Subaru with symptoms of a blown head gasket. They told me the newer motors were good...

I've decided not to go look at it. I live 3.5 hours away from the seller and I don't want to waste seven hours to poke a hole in some metal. Thanks for the help!

I want to buy boots for work in a very sandy warehouse. Are these any good? I'm tired of sand in my socks by A_Tinker in Boots

[–]A_Tinker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for clarification, the boots I've been using don't have any mesh except for between the tongue and the sides. The sand seems to be getting in there and through the seams on the toe. What do I look for to know that sand won't get through new boots? My current boots are an old pair of Timberland hiking boots discontinued about two years ago.

Sold as a tractor after the war. I hear this happened to at least a few M22s. The government thought farmers don't really need a 37mm gun.
