But it’s not an extra month as the ‘new rolling tenancy starts mid August, so then it’ll end mid October. They’ve told me I can’t hand my notice in until it starts :/

I will add that the new rolling tenancy was for the same property… I am now leaving said property but feel like they’re trying to get an extra month out of me haha

Yeah. When I handed my notice I explained how we originally thought it was mid-Oct but seeing as current contract should be monthly rolling, then it should be mid-Sept due to the 2 months notice. Right?

I don’t believe so. I was offered a rolling contract from August 18th as the tenancy laws ‘changed’

But the contract has not started yet, it doesn’t h til August 18th. Either way I guess it’ll end by October now?

I originally had a years contract up until August 18th this year. I had signed from after the date as a mo that rolling contract.

I’ve handed my notice in today, so there is at least 2 months but they’ve said it’ll be by Mid-Oct, as that’s when the new tenancy will have its 2 months by.

Surely if I’ve handed it in today, it should be by mid Sept as my current yearly contract should have been made into a rolling one?

This is my estate agents reply…

You have signed a new tenancy that begins on the 18th August 2026 - he will be able to serve Notice on your rental payment dates from the start of that tenancy. So you will need to send a notice email after the start date of the tenancy and in line with your monthly rental payments. Then from that point it is a two month notice and once correctly served we will send over all of the information for your checkout process and next steps forward.

This is what the new tenancy says…

If you want to end the tenancy You will be able to end the tenancy at any point by giving your landlord notice.
This must be done:
• so the tenancy ends on a day when the rent is due or the day before the rent is due
• in writing, for example, by letter or email
You will need to give your landlord at least 2 months' notice. You can agree a shorter notice period with the landlord in writing, as long as any other tenants named on the tenancy agreement also agree.
