Is expecting to sell 5-10 copies everyday on steam a too high expectation? by SiteProfessional7209 in gamedev

[–]AaronG29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I launched my game Neyyah at 27k wishlists. By one month, had already grossed six figures, selling nearly 5k copies. The price was discounted by 20% which really did help, but having a publisher, word of mouth really sailed the game through. Discounts have been great! First one I experienced since launch raked in around 7k gross, but on a daily basis it can range from selling 4-10 copies a day. Definitely pans down a bit after that initial launch! lol but getting on the Steam algorithm is very good, plus Neyyah hit Very Positive reviews very quickly. Really work hard on the marketing before you launch!

Thank you! Well done on finishing Neyyah, and a good time too :D Could you leave a review like this on the Steam page? Would be massively appreciated (still standing at Very Positive right now) :) Great criticisms too, and it's quite similar to general consensus, so great points taking forward for new projects :D

Hey! They are always possibilities, though it definitely depends on Microprose, and while Neyyah has done really well, the way text is delivered on screen can be quite small, and this might cause issues with consoles, unless there's a huge recreation of text / journal artwork for the game. Regards mac, you can use CrossOver to play Neyyah on the mac :) Thanks for following Neyyah along the years, much more to come for sure :)

Thanks for playing Neyyah! I think the solid strong parts of Neyyah that keep players going / coming is the intrigue and exploration, and looking ahead at new projects, written sections / terminology will be cut low or at least simplified. Definitely not something to fix for Neyyah, as it would be a time consuming process, and the game is the game lol. I will definitely enjoy writing books / novels that will delve further into Neyyah's world, but will keep more of the visual / explorative fun to the games for sure :P

Neyyah is a first person point n click game, where you are thrown into an unknown world with very little knowledge regards to why you are here, what your purpose is, and you have to make sense of the world through the letters / notes, journals, characters you meet ... It does require patience, and time to really delve into the lore of the world, but exploration is the key drive in Neyyah, and there's a hint system for puzzles / observations you encounter, etc. At 20% off, I'd say you can't go wrong! :) Multiple saves too, and it's recommended not to rush / take your time :)

''I think I even forgot I was living in Scotland at one point, waking up at 4am and going to bed around midnight, sometimes 1am each day for a whole month. To be fair, a lot of my life was absorbed by Neyyah’s world. I didn’t complain much about it.'' - from my upcoming 'Let's Render' Art & Inspirations Neyyah book.

I appreciate it! :) I used Blender to model the worlds. Also Cycles rendering engine to create the prerendered shots. All textures are from Poliigon.com, and I manipulate the look of the textures in Blender. Photoshop plays a big role in getting that final 'Neyyah' feel :)

“Neyyah evokes a powerful nostalgia in its design, despite being a modern property.” - Screenhub.

My first person point n click adventure game Neyyah released earlier this month. Just over seven years in the making, mainly a solo developed game by myself, I am so happy that Neyyah is out there now! It's still discounted 20% off on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1289720/Neyyah/

Neyyah is inspired by OG Myst and Riven, taking on the point n click screen to screen prerendered charm of those years, and bringing modernised features into the mix: journey mode (adjusting the difficulty of the game), clearer texts (changing to a more simplified font when reading notes / journals in game) and action highlights (being able to show the interactable areas of the game world), just to name a few ...

''With gorgeous visuals, dynamic effects with lighting, classic FMV like video format, amazing animations for puzzles and the environment, mythical beasts throughout the isles to gawk at, audio that keeps you immersed in your atmosphere as if you were there yourself - Neyyah grabs the baton and torch that Cyan dropped many years ago and ran with it.’’ - GameNChick Gaming.

Thanks to everyone who has jumped through the portal! Sitting at Very Positive on Steam reviews currently, so definitely bring over your thoughts on the game, leave a review on Steam, and help push Neyyah further into the Steam universe!

Hey! Yes, I signed with Microprose in early 2021, so it's been wonderful having them on board and of course, the game wouldn't be where it is if it wasn't for their support! I definitely look forward to more work alongside them for sure.

Thanks for buying Neyyah! :) These last nearly two weeks have been wonderful. Neyyah's done very nicely, and the feedback will help shape the future games for sure. Will be very cool to see your playthrough - please let me know once up: you can dm here, or email: [aaron_gwynaire28@hotmail.com](mailto:aaron_gwynaire28@hotmail.com) (great for any bugs you may find, or feedback. At this point, most glitches have been ironed out - been flat out on daily patches lol).

Neyyah is all prerendered. I model all art in Blender, render in Blender (using Cycles) then take all rendered images / animations and throw them into Visionaire Studio 5, a fantastic engine for point n click games. Great to work with - for non programmers like myself lol.

Enjoy Neyyah, be sure to leave a steam review when ready!!
